"I'm satisfied with your progress so far, Sara. Thank you again for stopping in; I'll go ahead and refer you to my associate, Doctor Harp, in Los Angeles. She'll want to schedule another round of CT and MRI scans to assess how you're coming along in your recovery, so you and she can figure out together what your next steps will be. For my part, I'll just remind you to continue to refrain from any strenuous, physical activities," Doctor Brooks instructed. He looked at both Sara and Zak with a rather obvious faux scold.
"I remember," Sara replied, smiling. She looked at Zak who rolled his eyes in mock dismay, before returning her smile. Sara had to stifle a laugh. "Thank you, Doctor Brooks. I really appreciate it." She shook his hand.
"You're welcome Sara – it's been my pleasure." Doctor Brooks extended his hand to Zak. "Mr. Bagans."
Zak shook his hand. "Thank you, Doctor Brooks."
Gracie was awaiting their return, as if she knew they were about to set off on a grand adventure. Zak and Sara had already brought their bags into the foyer earlier; they needed only to load them in the car and be on their way.
"Did you bring Gracie's food?" Sara checked.
"I sure did – snacks too! Are you ready, girl?"
Anticipating the mighty deliciousness of her treats, Gracie gave a resounding "WOOF!"
