   The next morning after keeping my eyes closed for about 5 minutes contimplating if I even wanted to wake up, I slowly opened my eyes and started to sit up.

   From across the room, I make eye contact with jade and her lips turn up into a small smile "goodmorning sunshine" she says mockingly. "yeah whatever, what time is it?" I ask "its" she checks her phone "3:24 in the afternoon" she says and I laugh lightly

   We sit there for a little while talking about random things, as Jade obviously is trying to keep me distracted. After a little while we decide to go downstairs and get some food. Even though its almost 4pm by now, we still decide to make eggs and toast.

   "hey Jade" I say while picking at some eggs and she looks up to me "Where are your parents at" I question, I usually am here earlier in the day and say hello to at least her dad. "Oh, they're at work during the day" she says and I nod.

   "So Em, what is going to happen now?" she asks "To be completely honest, I wish I knew" I mutter

  As if on cue, my phone starting ringing with the same number from yesterday. I mouth to Jade who it was and she wisper shouted at me to "put it on speaker"

   "H-hello" I say quietly into the phone and Jade grabs my hand. "Hey sweetie, since you have a little less than a month before you turn 18, your Uncle Brad agreed to watch over you" he tells me and I feel the little bit of smile I had on my face fall. Jade immediately notices and squeazes my hand. "I-is there anyone else that could take me in?" I ask. "Well your only other family is your aunt anna and uncle Charles, but they are getting very old and they live a 9 hour drive over in Atlanta Georgia" he says and I can hear the frown on his face.

   "well i'm almost 18, can't I just move out already. It's only a month" I say hopeful. "i'm sorry Ember, but I cant do that" he says "you'll be safe with your uncle and we'll keep all your families money safe at the bank" he tries to reassure me but anyone can tell it didn't work. "I've gotta go dear, call me if you need anything. My name is Owen by the way, ok?" he says and I nod forgetting he couldn't see me, making me Jade snicker at me. "O-Okay" I say but he already hung up.

   I stare into Jade' dark brown, almost black eyes trying to figure out how to break the silence. When she suddenly starts crunching on my piece of toast. I narrow my eyes at her and she smiles sheepishly and continues my toast.

   "So" she starts "Your Uncle Brad, Is he nice" she asks making me laugh. "no he is not, he's super judgemental and hard on me. It's like he finds joy in making me have axiety attacks." I inform and she frowns

   "at last it's only 1 month" she says smiling at me "you've got this"

   "WAIT!" I exclaim. "Where the frickity frack are your dogs and cats" I ask "Oh, theyre at my brothers house" she tells me and I nod

  "So, whats the plan for today?" she asks "Well, I need to run home and feed manning and the birds, then I guess I should tell Seth and Ashton the n-news" I inform her my voice cracking at the end, my eyes welling up again

   "Do you want me to come with" Jade hesitantly asks, knowing how hard it'll be for me to tell them. "How much I want you there, I think I owe it to them to tell them alone" I say softly and she nods "If you need anything just call, i'll keep my ringtone on" she tells me and I nod, getting up to hug her before I go.

   "I should probably go change before I go" I say and make my way back up to her closest to change. I just pick an oversized hoodie not caring about what I look like and leave the room
