Lost Without You

I actually have a plan for this chapter!! Maybe it won't be total and complete cringe. I'm joking it totally still will be lol.

  As Eliazer parks in the driveway of a cute white cottage styled home with a pretty red brick roof. This is the moment where my nerves finally appeared.

   "I'm nervous." I muttered and Eliazer started laughing at me. "You practically begged me to take you here and now you're nervous?" He asked incredulously still laughing at me.

   "Shut up, I didn't beg. I just asked, multiple times." I corrected him as he raised his eyebrows at me. That was kinda hot. Stop you're literally going to meet his mother right now.

   "Okay, are you ready?" He asks as I shake myself out of my not so kind thoughts. "Not at all, let's go." I say making him chuckle as he follows behind me to the door.

   I stand there and wait for him to open the door, deciding that I'm not going to be the one to open it. I follow him in the house and immediately get hit by a sudden warmth I used to feel all the time at my house.

   Brad's house is super cold and the atmosphere in general is just cold and tense. My old house though had so much life, also mom was always cold so we kept the temperature warm.

  "You coming?" He asks softly and I realize I spaced out. Nodding I follow him into the kitchen.

  "Hey momma. This is Ember." Eliazer introduces me. "Oh my goodness Ember, it's so nice to finally put a face to the person Eli has told me so much about." She says hugging me.

  "It's nice to meet you too Mrs. Pierce." I tell her honestly. "Nonsense, you can call me Hannah." She tells me. "That's a beautiful name." I tell her honestly, Eliazer was right she's a really sweet lady.

   "Eliazer has told me so much about you. He was right, you are really beautiful." She says smiling softly at me. I feel my cheeks heat up and don't know what to say so I just look down to my feet. "Thanks." I whisper quietly not trying to be rude.

   "Eliazer told me about your husband. I'm really sorry." I say equally as quiet as she continues to smile at me. "It's ok honey." She said

   "Ember?" Jasper asks confused as he walked down the stairs from what I'm guessing is his room. He's shirtless but I choose to ignore it. "Oh hey Jasper!" I call back.

  "Why's she here?" He asks bluntly as I try to hold on my laugh. "Aw I knew you missed me!" I call back making no move to get closer to him. "Where's Jade?" He asks looking around for my bestfriend

"Simp"

  "What was that?" He snaps back. "Oh, nothing hun."  "Gosh, he just loves me so much." I mutter under my breath,  walking back over to where Eliazer and his mother are.

  "So Ember, tell me a little about yourself." Mrs Hannah says. "Well uhm. Well I take care of my cousins while my parents run their wildlife conservation." I tell her. "Wait like Star Conservative?" She asks and I nod. "Oh my gosh, the your Sarah's kid. I thought her name was Rose?"

  "Ember Rose." I tell her.

  "Are they as good people as they seem?" She asks. "The best."

  I feel my phone ringing from my back pocket and I almost decline it but when I notice its Jades name flashed on the screen. I get worried about why she would call me.

   "I'm really sorry, do you mind if I answer this?" I ask apologetically and she nods in understanding at my worried expression.

   "Ember! Thank God you answered!" Jades frazzled voice traveled through the phone. "What's going on?" I ask.

  "Avery is having a tantrum." She answered and I notice the piercing scream in the background. "What happened, do you know?"

   "Yeah, she wanted me to do her makeup and I thought it sounded fun. But she started crying hysterically as I covered some on the scars on her face." Jade told me and I felt my heart crumble for her. "No one can get her to calm down, not even Jay." Jade followed up and I winced.

   "Ok, I'll be right there."

  "I'm really sorry but I have to go." I tell her wincing as she frowns. "Why it feels like you just got here."

   "My cousin is having a tantrum and my bestfriend can't calm her down." I tell her "it was so nice to meet you Mrs. Hannah."

  "Please just Hannah, and it was lovely to meet you too Ember." She says making me smile as she gives me a short hug

   I try to go to my car before realizing that Eliazer drove me here. I'm just about to go find him when he's already walking out with his keys in hand. "Ready?"

   The ride back to Jade's is quite uncomfortable. The atmosphere is really tense since I'm worried for Avery, while Eliazer doesn't say anything.

  As he pull up to Jades house I quickly thank him for everything before running into the house, immediately having Avery's screams piercing my eardrums.

  I quickly run up to Jade's room in the attic to where I hear the screaming coming from.

  Looking at the scene in front of me only makes my heart break more for the little girl. Her pale face, bright red from all the screaming and her cheeks soaked from all the crying. The small amounts of makeup that had been on her face from her and Jades makeover are mixed with her tears, down her face and neck.

   Before I saw it coming her small body crashed against mine in a hug. "Oh my God baby." I said holding her just as hard. "What happened?" I asked softly as her breathing slowed down, but she only shook her head at me.

   "Look at me Avery." I said sternly and her eye slowly flickered up to mine. "You are so, beyond beautiful. It takes a strong person to see how beautiful they are. And the scars on your skin are just the proof that you are that strong person." I say softly. After a little while more longer Avery's sobs had fully stopped. Looking over to Jay who hadn't said anything since I came, I motioned for him to come over too. "You're a handsome boy too, I hope you know that." I told him as I scooted him to sit a little more comfortably against my side.

  "Thanks for everything Jade." I told her honestly. "Oh no problem, so how'd it go?"

  I tell her absolutely everything that happened tonight in fine detail. "I can't tell if I should saw "aww" or be scared for my life that I was expecting a normal date story and got that instead." She says making the twins laugh. "I'm offended that you three laugh at me so much."

  "You're easy to laugh at." Jade smirks. "Girl, we are basically the same person, you're just laughing at yourself." I smirk back.

  "Too real."

   "Always"
