Nicky Harper: Picture Perfect

I walk into Tom Gets Sporty with my bag hung over my shoulder. I see Nicky, Ricky, and Dawn sitting at a booth with Britt. He's their foreign exchange student from Australia. I like him, he's a nice guy. Also, he keeps the Quads from thinking about how much they miss Dicky.

Nicky and I are supposed to hang out tonight which I'm excited about. We're going to the theater to see a double feature of The Addams Family movies. I'm excited because we get to spend some time alone...together. We aren't dating but I've liked him forever, but he hasn't seemed to notice. Recently he's been acting differently so maybe I'll shoot my shot.

I walk up to the table

"Hello Quads," I say sitting down next to Britt "Hello Aussie man"

"Hey Y/N!" Dawn replys "Britt was just telling us about his art. We've seen his drawings but he's trying to get into photography."

I look at him "That's awesome! My cousin did some photography in college and had me pose for him when he came to visit once"

Britt nods his head, scanning me over a moment before nodding.

"You do have a very joyful aura...How would you like to be my muse while I'm in America?" He asks grabbing my hand

I'm shocked, it's not like I was wearing anything fancy. I look over to Nicky who seems confused but still amused by the situation.

"Really? Me?" I ask

He nods "Yes you! You are perfect for the style I'm going for. How about we meet later to take a few test shots?"

I shake my head "Sorry, Nicky and I are seeing a mov-"

Nicky shakes his head "No way! This is a great opportunity for you! We can see a movie anytime"

I was a little sad he didn't object to the idea as I did.

I shrugged my shoulders "Oh, what the heck"

Dawn and Ricky notice my disappointed face and furrow their brows. They look at each other and then look at Nicky who is oblivious as ever.

Britt pulls us up "Ripper! Let's go over clothing, I was thinking something more laid back-"

Dawns POV

"Nicky, why'd you let her bail on Addams Family night!" I say, hitting him.

Ricky nods "You guys go every year!"

He shook his head "It's not that big of a deal. Plus I think Britt might like her, they would be cute together don't you think?"

"NO BECAUSE SHE L-" Ricky starts yelling but I put my hand over his mouth.

Y/N hasn't technically told us anything even though we all figured it out a long time ago. She would get so upset if Nicky found out.

"She loves going to Movie Night. Ever since that day when we had to ditch extracurriculars, you were the only one who could make it. You were the only quad she would talk to for three weeks" I explain, taking my hand off Ricky's mouth.

Nicky gets up and heads to the juice bar "You need to relax, we'll have movie night another night."

Back to Y/Ns POV

The next day Britt and I walk into the shop and I'm excited. Britt got some great shots of me and my confidence is through the roof. I had no idea how funny Britt was, he kept trying to make me laugh so my face looked natural.

We spot the Quads at the juice bar and Britt lays out the pictures he just printed.

"Hey guys check out our shots from last night," Britt says grabbing their attention.

Dawn picks up one and looks closer "Wow, these are great. Y/N your eyes are, sparkling!"

I laugh

Ricky nods "You caught her shadows at a great angle Britt! And not to sound weird but those clothes are very flattering on you."

I shook my head "It's fine, Britt picked them out" I looked to Nicky "So Nicky... What do you think?"

He glanced over them and went back to the glass he was cleaning "They're nice"

I furrow my brows "Just nice?"

He smiles at me "They are very nice Y/N"

I give a forced smile and look back down at the picture. He couldn't care less, he cancelled our annual movie night for this yet he still couldn't care less.

"I think you look beautiful," Britt says and I look at him "I did my best to capture your lovely spirit but even the crappiest camera couldn't make you look bad."

I was astonished, a guy had never talked about me like that before. Britt is always so kind to me but this makes me look at him a little differently.

"Thank you, Britt," I say, kissing his cheek and walking over to Mae and Miles to show them our pictures.

Dawns POV

Ugh, Nicky! Nice? That's all that my stupid brother had to say about the pictures that he made her take.

Britt starts talking about how beautiful Y/N is and I see Nicky look up from what he's doing. When she kissed him on the cheek I swear I saw a hint of, jealousy?

After Y/N was out of reach Britt looked at us excited "Did you see that? I'm thinking of asking her out later because before I wasn't sure she liked me"

Nicky looked like he had something to say but held his tongue.

Y/N called Britt over.

"Gotta go! Be right back mates" he says with a thumbs up, walking over to her.

Nicky gawks "Who does that guy think he is?"

I shrug "The guy that's constantly giving Y/N words of affirmation and telling her she's beautiful?"

Nicky looked down shamefully "I think she's beautiful..."

"Then tell her that!" Ricky exclaimed, seemingly exhausted.

Nicky shakes his head "She knows-"

I shake my head "No she doesn't! You called her pictures "Nice". The pictures you made her take instead of going to movie night, taken by the guy she doesn't have a crush on"

"What are you talking about?" he asks "Why does it matter if she likes him or not?"

"Because she doesn't like him, she likes you!" I say before I can shut my mouth

Nicky gasps "WHAT?"

I looked at Ricky who had his head in his hands.

"You're telling me I just blew my shot with the most incredible girl in the world!" Nicky says "And all because I let her hang out with kangaroo boy?"

Me and Ricky nod, shrugging our shoulders.

"I gotta fix this!"
