Astrid's mouth fell open once again, no sound coming out. Hiccup just stared at her. The rugged wind tossing her braid and throwing her loose hair in her face. She looked as if she were going to cry, this was the moment she had been waiting for since, forever. She thought it would be different somehow, not that it was a bad proposal, but she thought she would feel different. Whenever she would dream about this moment, she thought it would be a simple 'yes i'll marry you' kind of response, but she couldn't speak. Her stomach was turning in knots, she was too elated.
Just to break the silence, she pushed him onto his back and straddled him once more, placing her lips to his hungrily. Hiccup let his arms fall back onto the ice, giving her the power. She grasped his face and pulled away for breath. Her hands trailed up and down his head, running their fingers through his hair, trailing down his chin and back up again. Tears began to flow as she bit her bottom lip and began nodding.
"Yes...i-i'll marry you." She sniffled.
Hiccup smiled, giving half a chuckle. He pushed himself upright, to where his legs were stretched out, but his torso was straight. Astrid, still perched in his lap, grasped his flight suit on his side and held out her left hand. Carefully, he slid the ring onto her third finger, where it would stay forever. More tears flowed from Astrid's eyes once seeing the glorious ring upon her finger. She took her right hand and fiddled with it.
"I-it's beautiful, babe." She said in awe.
Hiccup touched the jewels that were encrusted in it. "This one is your birthstone." He pointed to the blue stone. "And this one is mine, an emerald."
"Like you gorgeous eyes." Astrid whispered.
Hiccup smiled and then pointed to the one in the middle. "And this is a diamond."
She grasped her hand again, looking at the ring in detail before looking back up into Hiccups eyes. "I Love you...my fiancé."
Hiccup pulled her face back to his, trailing his arms down his back until they rested on the small of her back. He kissed her lips, her cheeks, her nose, her brow, any part of her face the he could reach.
"I love you too, my wife-to-be." He replied.
Astrid blushed. "We should get going, don't want to miss the Snoggletog dinner."
Hiccup shook his head as his fiance stood and held her hand out for him. He grasped it and pulled himself up, careful that he used his right foot and not his left prosthetic on the ice. That would be a disaster.
"Come' on bud." Hiccup called to the dragon, who was still having the time of his life on the ice. "We can come back tomorrow."
Toothless bounded over, watching out for the couple this time, and pulled to a stop next to them.
"Milady." Hiccup said as he helped Astrid onto the back of the saddle.
She blushed even more. Once Hiccup mounted the dragon, she wrapped her hands around his middle again and gave his stomach a slight tickle.
He chuckled. "Quit that."
Astrid laughed. "Is my husband-to-be ticklish?"
He laughed and told Toothless to fly to the great hall. They traveled in blissful silence. Words were not needed to show their appreciation and love for one another. Astrid trailed her hands along his torso and placed minuscule kisses on his neck and chin every once in a while. About 15 minutes later, Toothless landed in the soft white fluff in front of the great hall doors as it began to snow. Hiccup helped Astrid down and took her left hand in his right. She leaned against him, her head on his shoulder and her other hand grasping his forearm, as they walked into the great hall with Toothless trailing behind them.
