Chapter 3
Pandora's POV
I woke up and didn't know what time it was. Umber was still asleep, so I got dressed into a Neverseen cloak and checked to see if my murky, black face was still on. Once I confirmed that I quietly stepped out of my room and tried to find the arena. After a few minutes I found the arena and let me tell you it was huge. Imagine one of those big soccer fields and make it a circle with black walls and sand floors. Two figures were battling and they were both using fire. They went back and forth shooting flames at each other before dodging the other elves flames. I watched from the entrance in amazement. I always wanted to meet another Pyrokinetic and here I was watching two battle each other. A stray flame blasted towards me and I narrowly dodged it by squatting down.
"You should be careful here. I almost burned you," a familiar voice told me.
Fintan? I spelled in shadows.
"How do you know me?" Fintan asked suspiciously.
I was forced to memorize all the Council's speeches.
"Sounds boring," another voice chimed in.
I moved my murky, black face toward another Neverseen member. I still couldn't tell who anyone was, so I didn't know anyone. They were mysterious like me and I felt like I belonged here.
It was. I spelled in shadows.
"So are you the new recruit?" the cloaked figure asked.
Yes
"What's your name?"
Miran.
"Do you want to spar? I'm getting tired of beating Fintan,"
"You only beat me once," Fintan responded gruffly.
"Keep telling yourself that,"
I could tell Fintan was rolling his eyes as he crossed his arms. I smiled underneath my mask. Boys these days.
I'll do it, but I may not be that good.
"It's better than Fintan,"
Fintan grumbled something and leaned against the entrance. I took that as a 'yes go ahead and fight the new recruit' response. The cloaked figure jogged back to the other end of the arena and made fire appear in his hand. I decided that if I wanted the Neverseen to trust me I should tell them things, so I held out my hands and fire appeared. I heard Fintan and the other Pyrokinetic gasp. I took their weakness into my advantage and I fired a beam of fire at the other Pyrokinetic. He barely dodged it and I gave him no seconds to breathe. I fired multiple fire beams at him and he managed to dodge them. He ran full speed at me and tackled me to the ground. I smiled under my mask and kicked him in the groin. He groaned in pain and fell to the side of me. I heard Fintan laugh and I quickly made a fire sword before pointing it at his throat.
"Your way better than Fintan," he grunted out.
I closed my fist and the fire disappeared from the arena.
Maybe, but I don't know how to call down the Everblaze.
"If you spar with me more than maybe I'll teach you,"
