Sophie's 16th Birthday, 2 Days before Valentine's Day

I went out the front door and leaned against the willow tree in my front yard, taking slow, deep breaths.

He couldn't. There was no way.

Biana was probably messing with me.

Yeah. That's probably what happened.

Then why did I feel so happy?

I couldn't like him. I like Fitz.

Ugh. Why is my love life so confusing?

I closed my eyes for a moment and I realized something.

The first thing Fitz had said to me today was 'Happy Birthday.'

'Happy Birthday' wasn't on my wrist.

Which meant...

"He's not your soulmate?" I jumped, startled. Biana had sat down next to me. "Yeah. I assumed that."

"But then who is?" I whispered to myself.

"Bet you his name starts with a K."

I glared at Biana, which just made he laugh. "Oh, shut up, Bi. I can still be Fitz's Valentine. Soulmates aren't everything, you know."

Biana's jaw dropped. "What??? I already found mine!"

"Yes, because it's Dex, and you're Biana." I laughed a bit, "I'd rather just focus on something else right now."

Biana just shrugged. "What do you wanna do?"

I shrugged. "I dunno."

Biana sat up straight and smirked. "I have an idea."

"We better not-"

"Shopping spree!"

I groaned after we had left the fifth store. "How much longer?" I complained.

"Two more stores. Then that's it." Biana insisted. thankfully, my phone ringing spared me a moment free of torture.

It was Edaline. I picked up and said, "Sup?"

"Your cousins and grandparents just arrived." Edaline explained(A/N: yes... let's just pretend they have more family... for the sake of the story...)

"Cool! On our was back now!" I said, delighted, also being saved from any more shopping. "Love you!"

I hung up and turned to Biana. "My cousins are at my house. I gotta go."

"That's alright," She smiled, "Have fun!"

I was greeted by my older cousin, Cassandra, tackling me in a hug, "Sophieeee!" She was 23 years old, and by far, one of my favorite cousins. "Happy Birthday!"

"I missed you so much, Cas!" I squealed. I haden't seen her since she started collage, and she graduated just a couple on months ago.

"Hey. Don't pay attention to only my sister!" my younger cousin, Brooke, who was my age, said in mock anger. I laughed and hugged her too.

Cas nudged me a bit, "Soooo, you're finally not a single pringle anymore?" I smirked, blushing a little. "Aha! You have a boyfriend, thank god, finally."

I rolled my eyes at her, "He's just my Valentine. It's nothing huge."

"But it's the closest you've ever gotten to love!"

Me and Brooke glared at her, making her laugh.

We talked about boys for a while, and I found out that Brooke had a boyfriend, as did Cas. Not that I was really surprised.

"Wait can we meet him?" Brooke asked, "Your boyfriend."

I shrugged, "Maybe? I'm not sure."

A/N:

Okay so I had to add Cas and Brooke into the story because Brooke ends up having an important role, and so does Cas.

have an amazing day!
