Valentine's Day

BROOKE'S POV

Surprisingly, me and Cas stayed another night. Sophie's friend wanted us to go to her party to 'boost her reputation'. I didn't mind, really. I bet you a bunch of hot boys will be there.

I looked at my wrist for the fourth time today. How was I supposed to tell Sophie? God. I'd be an awful cousin, both if I did tell her and if I didn't.

The words on my wrist haunted me as I walked through the front doors.

Nice to meet you.

SOPHIE'S POV

"Eeeee! You came!" Biana squealed, tackling me in a hug when I was trying to walk down the basement steps without falling down.

I wobbled a bit but quickly regained my balance. "Why wouldn't I come?"

She shrugged. "Because you didn't want to wear a dress." Biana helped me down the rest of the stairs, then rushed over to Dex, leaving me, Brooke, and Cas in the dust.

"Hey Sophie!" I smiled as I saw Fitz walking over to us.

"Hi! You already know Brooke-but this is her sister, Cas." I explained, "Cas, this is the person I was telling you about."

"Your boyfriend?"

"Valentine."

"Same thing. Imma go get drunk, Brooke, call Dad if you need anything," Cas said, rushing off to where a group of boys around her age were standing, which was also where the alcohol was.

Brooke rolled her eyes. "I'll leave you two alone." And she did.

BIANA'S POV

Awww.

I may ship Sokeefe, but Sophie and Fitz sure did look cute.

Yes, I do ship my friends.

Why do you care?

"Care for a dance, m'lady?" Dex asked in a mock fancy voice, holding out a hand to me.

"Why, I would love too," I replied in the same tone of voice, taking his hand and he led me onto the dance floor.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Fitz bring Sophie on just as a slow song began to play.

BROOKE'S POV

I felt a small pang of jealousy as Fitz led Sophie onto the dance floor. My cousin was out there, dancing with my soulmate.

"You don't like them?" I turned around and a boy with ice blue eyes and ruffled blonde hair was standing next to me, watching Fitz and Sophie as well.

"Well," I said, turning my attention back to them, "It's a little annoying watching your cousin dance with your soulmate."

"Oh-you're Sophie's cousin, right? Cassandra?"

I laughed and shook my head no. "Cassandra's my sister. She's over there," I pointed to where Cas was standing, "Getting drunk. I'm Brooke, but yes, Sophie is my cousin."

"I'm Keefe." He said with a smirk.

"Are you the one who did the jar thing? And the 'nerd box' or whatever you called it?" I asked Keefe.

He nodded, "Why?"

"Sophie loves it. She's already opened two of the stars, and refused to take the marvel sweatshirt off. She even hung the pictures in her room. It was one of the first things she did."

Keefe looked like he was blushing. "I was doing family stuff, so I couldn't give it to her in person."

We were silent for a while, watching the two of them dance.

Until they kissed.

Tears brimmed in my eyes and I rushed away.

I shouldn't feel so angry but I do.

SOPHIE'S POV

Kissing Fitz was--

Nothing like I expected it to be.

It wasn't like any of those books or movies. There was no 'spark'. It just felt... wrong.

So, so wrong.

When we pulled away I noticed I couldn't see Brooke anywhere.

"I need to find my cousin. I can't see her." I whispered to Fitz and ran upstairs.

I saw her hugging a familiar looking boy, and they were both crying.

"Brooke? Brooke, what happened?" I asked, rushing over to them.

Brooke pulled away from Keefe. "Leave me alone."

"Brooke," I said as she pushed past me, "Brooke!"

"Shut up!" She stormed outside just as Fitz walked up the stairs.

"Is everything okay?" He asked, glancing between me and Keefe, looking worried.

"Yeah-everything's fine," I insisted, "Can you talk to Brooke, please? She just ran outside." He nodded and pushed through the doors. I turned to Keefe.

We were silent for a moment before he finally said, "This is really boring, isn't it?"

"Why were you crying?" I asked him.

He just shrugged. "No reason."

"Please don't lie to me, Keefe."

"Why can't I?"

BROOKE'S POV

"What do you-" I broke off when I saw it was Fitz. "Oh. It's you."

He smiled sadly and sat down on the grass next to me, "Why are you crying?"

I shrugged, "I dunno. I guess it's just a little weird to see your soulmate kissing your cousin."

Fitz's eyes widened. "What do you mean?"

I looked up at him. "What are the first words you said to me?"

"'Nice to meet you' or something like that."

"It was 'nice to meet you'," I held up my wrist, "Explain this."

He examined the words and because more red by the second but it wasn't from anger. "What were the first words you said to me?"

"'What do you, oh, it's you' was the first thing I said directly to you." I shrugged again.

Ugh. Why do I shrug so much? It's weird.

He held up his wrist.

What do you- oh, it's you.

Those were the words on his wrist.

Then I did the unthinkable.

I kissed him.
