The Next Day

I called Keefe that morning to tell him to come over.

I waited on my front steps, then he came into view.

He was walking on the sidewalk, looking very nervous and hesitant.

I didn't want him to feel that way.

But to be fair, I was about as nervous as he was.

"What's up, Foster?" He called over, jogging across the street, and I walked down to meet him in my driveway.

"I read the notes." I blurted out.

He paled. "Oh, erm, it's fine. We're still friends though, right?"

I laughed at his stupidity.

"What?" Keefe asked, confused.

I took a deep breath and said, "Keefe, I feel the same way."

"Okay, good,so it's not-"

"No," I laughed, "I mean, I want to be more than friends. More than best friends."

"What, best best friends?"

"More."

He smirked, "Best best best friends?"

"More."

"Best best best best friends?" Now he was just playing stupid.

I nudged him. "More."

"Best best best best best friends?"

"More."

"Best best best best best best friends?"

"More."

"Best best bets best best best best fri-"

I kissed him, cutting him off mid-sentence.

Fireworks exploded in my stomach and the butterflies went wild. My heart pounded against my chest and my wrist burned, like it was supposed to when you were kissing your soulmate.

When we pulled away even though I really didn't want too, Keefe had a very ridiculous looking grin on his face, and I assumed I did as well.

"So, best best best best best best best best friends?"
