I unconsciously decided to hide from the others.

Cautiously making my way around school. It was a lot easier to avoid the lycans for the past couple of days.

"You seem stressed."

I jumped at the sound of a male voice.

I turned around with a forced smile, only to be met by Louis. My smile drops. And so did my guard, the only way that Louis can possibly attack me is by endlessly talking.

In other words, he can only annoy me to death.

"How nice to see you too." He says sarcastically. I roll my eyes as he arches a brow at me.

I peak behind him, checking to see if anyone else was there.

"Why are you- Athena what the fuck are you doing?" He snaps in front of me.

"Shut up." I gave him a loathing look.

"Are you hiding from Nicholas?"

"You'd like that." I blurt out unintentionally.

"Answer the question loser."

I deadpan at him.

"If you must know, I'm not hiding from anybody."

His expression says he doesn't believe a single word I had said.

"I- I..just need time by myself. Being around Lycans can be tiring, especially with that group." I try a different lie.

"I'm guessing you found out." He points out and I pressed my lips firm together. "You're making a good decision staying away from them."

I narrow my eyes at him. "You tried to kill me before, what's with the mood change all of a sudden?" I confronted him and all he does is shrug.

There was no way I was letting him walk away without an answer. I grabbed his wrist and forced him to turn back to me.

"I mean what happened to the 'I'll ruin your life' mindset. Why are you warning me about..you know." I rephrase.

"Because you think I want a repeat of that again?" He says impatiently.

"I think you would enjoy seeing me suffer." I answered a little ignorantly and only realised when his usual serious demeanor dropped. "Not that I'm saying you would-"

"Enjoy seeing someone like you go through the same thing my sister did?" He finished my sentence. "The very thing that led her to her death? You think I would find pleasure in seeing you suffer like that?"

I bit my tongue.

Why was he acting so different all of a sudden??

"As much as I don't like you Athena, I would never wish that upon someone else." Louis stated with a blunt look.

"But you were able to create your own way of torture just for me?" I reminded him of how he had placed those handcuffs on me just so I could see a fault in his disguise.

But Louis's mask never cracked.

At this point I thought I was paranoid for being suspicious of him.

"I'm a classist what can I say?" He sighed. "Now that you're Nicholas's mate, you're basically one of us now and I just that you should at least know what you were to the lycans before you were his mate."

The sick feeling in my stomach returned.

Louis walked away without another word, he clearly didn't have the time nor energy to deal with me.
