Damien Frasier- Jamaican (mother); Scottish (father); Damien is an athletic student who is the captain of the high school's basketball team and develops an interest in Mia Vasquez-Rivera during her teen years. He is often described as being kindhearted, assertive, friendly, trustworthy, selfless and patient and initially appeared to be one of the nicer, more reliable students on the high school's sports teams, being described by Mia's mother as seemingly defying all the characteristics of the "stereotypical jock". He is nicknamed Weezie by his peers and is generally perceived as a decent guy, refusing to go along with acts he finds dishonest or hurtful to the well-being of others and resisting the pressure to go along with what his more popular friend-group does. He has firm morals and also appeared to be very family-oriented and proud of his diverse multicultural background, which led him and Mia to form a quick connection over their similarly mixed heritages. With a strong interest in his academics and dreams of earning an athletic scholarship to study psychology at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Damien generally projects himself as a fair, practical, and reliable young man, who is inclined to have a "common sense" view of things. He tries to appear educated and composed when in public and claims to strongly believe in treating others, particularly females, with courteousness and respect. While he does not appear to be the most intellectual person, he is always attuned to the things going on in his environment and never likely to go out and have a bad time. He also had a hidden altruistic side, as he was repeatedly voted athlete of the year by his classmates and used his strong athletic abilities to help coach the local wheelchair basketball team in his community. Damien is shown to be very cheerful and outgoing around others as well, displaying confidence in himself and being unintimidated by Mia's reserved demeanor.

A smooth talker, he has a strong wit and sense of humor and can be forward in expressing his interest in females he feels an attraction toward, particularly Mia. He is endeared by Mia's shyness and finds her attractive, developing an interest in getting to know her better once he finds her sitting alone on the school benches outside the high school. He feels encouraged to start a conversation with her upon claiming she had a "kind face" and connects with her over their mutual interest in psychology and comic books. Damien is a "cool guy" through and through, and much like his classmates, he enjoys the many entertaining things that the internet brings both figuratively and literally. He always has a look of relaxation on his face and speaks in short sparse phrases, and a majority of his dialogue consists of variations that use the phrase "it is". He bases his life around technology, yet with a bit of support, he eventually comes to his friends' aid regardless of the situation, aspiring to work for a a moving company as a back up plan. He appears to be mostly drawn to things that are bound to be big or interesting so that he can proceed to record it on his phone and decides to grow out his hair in order to style it in dreads. Damien can also be egotistical and self-centered however and will often take into account his and other people's social standings when making decisions. While attending the high school, he was initially described as the typical pretty boy that gained attention from everyone near him, though this caused him to fall out of favor with the lesser-known kids at school who labeled him as a "douchebag". Despite having a charming personality, he eventually fell into the wrong crowd of the snarkier popular kids, although his compassion lay underneath his superficiality.

He began to pressure Mia into sending him nudes during their early encounters and would often text her suggestively, which she admits caused her a bit of discomfort. Damien is very image-conscious and enjoys making YouTube videos in his spare time, hoping to acquire fame despite his limited success with his multiple social media accounts. One of his deepest insecurities is his struggle with dyslexia, which he keeps secreted from many of the people he encounters beyond his family. He had trouble connecting with others and making friends for much of his life due to his being seen as a "crybaby" and chubbier kid growing up, causing him to rely primarily on his sister to offer him companionship and be his "best friend". He copes with his loneliness by listening to music in his free time and looks up to several idols such as Three Doors Down, attending music festivals celebrating their talents whenever he gets the chance. Damien sees Mia as being less shallow than other girls and decides to get to know her better by taking her on a series of dates. He invites her to Raising Cane's, where he and many other students interact after school, and they begin seeing each other for some time. After Mia reveals she has never gone on an official date, he invites her to the high school's homecoming dance, with intentions of later introducing her to his parents. Many of hers and Damien's interactions consisted of them meeting up at the same bench where he first approached Mia, during which they would hold hands at the bench. Mia would have quality conversations with him, as they were paired up to work on a Whataburger float for a project, leading to her gradually warming up to Damien with time. Although she feels some discomfort in a crowded setting and reveals she doesn't know how to dance, he is unfazed by her awkwardness. He offers instead to take her out to buy milkshakes together at a local diner after the dance, and the two agree to go on a movie date to see Transformers the following week.
