Chapter 24; Surprise Plan

hiii sorry for not updating yesterday I had a massive headache and couldn't be bothered to write lmao :)

Pippa's POV

Anyone that didn't know us would think we were planning something illegal. But no, we were just planning Jess a surprise birthday party. Her birthday was in 3 days and with everything she's gone through we wanted to make is as special as possible. Jasmine had the idea that we could do something with the cast of *show* because she'd got really close with all of them, apart from samantha obviously, who wasn't invited. I called Mike a few nights ago and told him our plan, and he loved it. He said we can come down to the theatre today and plan everything. So Jazzy and I got up early to head down to the theatre and prepare. Jess had mentioned that she has wanted a puppy for a long time but her mom would never get her one, so Jaz and I decided to get her one. We were gonna bring her down to the theatre on her birthday, and the whole cast of *show* and the cast of Hamilton, because she was pretty close with them too, were gonna jump out from behind the seats and the set to surprise her. And just when she thinks it's nothing but a normal party, Eliza's gonna walk out with a puppy. We hadn't actually told Eliza yet, but we were sure she would be down for it.

"Okay everyone, here's the plan for Jess's birthday." I explained everything to them and they all looked really excited. "Jas and I are gonna bring Jess here at 9, and we'll have a party and shit until 10, when Eliza will get here with the puppy, and she'll surprise Jess." Jazzy said. I nodded along, smiling because I knew Jess would love it. "Pips I have a question. Isn't Jess gonna be suspicious if Eliza isn't here?" Henry asked. I hadn't thought of that I looked at Jasmine to see what she thought. "I suppose. I'll try and think of something to tell her." I replied. "Okay, now let's prepare everything." I said, and everybody started moving and talking frantically. "Okay calm down! Everybody listen up." Jazzy said.

At 9.45, we were finally prepared. I had to leave because I needed to take Jess to therapy, but before I left I had one thing to say. "Remember, don't let anything slip! Act normal around Jess at rehearsal for the next few days, it's a surprise." Everybody nodded and Jas and I left. "Is Eliza staying at yours while Jess is at therapy?" Jazzy asked in the car. "Yeah why?" "I'll stay at your too and tell Eliza the plan." She said. I nodded and we drove back. I unlocked the door and Jess and Eliza we're watching a movie. "Hi girls." I said as I set down my keys. "Hi Pippa, hi Jaz." Jess said. "You ready to go? Eliza Jasmine's gonna stay here too by the way." I said. Jess got up to put her shoes and, said goodbye to Eliza and grabbed her phone. "Okay, let's go." I said, and we walked out the door.

Jazzy's POV
As soon as the door was closed I turned to Eliza. "Okay I have some shit to tell you. But you can't tell Jess okay?" I said. She frowned and nodded. "Don't worry it's nothing bad." I explained everything to her and she started smiling. "That's an amazing idea!" She said. I then got out my phone to show her a picture of the puppy we were getting Jess. "Oh my god it's so cute! She's gonna love it." Eliza said. I nodded. "I hope she does." I said. "Jazzy can I ask you something?" She said suddenly. "Of course." She looked at me and hesitated but then began to speak. "When Jess called you, what did she say?" I frowned and then realised what she meant. "Well at first she told me about the whole thing with Kayla. And then she started saying goodbye and that she was sorry, and she said to tell you that she was sorry and that she loved you and Pips. Why do you ask?" I said. Eliza looked really upset by something. "And when you found her, what did she say?" I looked Eliza right in the eyes. "Eliza is everything okay?" I asked. "I'm fine. What did she say?" "She said she was sorry, and that she was overreacting and stupid, but I told her she wasn't. Eliza are you sure you're okay?" She shook her head. "So she didn't say anything about... never mind." She said and got up to walk away. I grabbed her hand and pulled her back. "No Eliza. You can talk to me. What happened?" She started to sob. "The day before it happened, we had an argument. It wasn't that big of a deal, and she said it was fine and we made up the same day, but I can't help but think that was the reason she attempted." She said between sobs. "Eliza she loves you so much, it wasn't your fault at all. What was the argument about?" I asked. "We were at rehearsal, and Sam had just said some shit to her. She ran to the bathrooms and I followed her. When I got there, she had scissors in her hands. I shouted her name and took them from her, telling her not to hurt herself. I didn't mean any harm, I was just trying to help, but I said it a bit too harsh, and she got angry and told me to go away. I tried to apologise but she locked herself in the bathrooms. She eventually came out 10 minutes later and said she was sorry, but I know it was my fault and I shouldn't have shouted." She blurred out. I pulled her closer and hugged her. "You were just trying to protect her. None of this was your fault, okay. She loves you so much. Kayla and Samantha are the ones to blame, not you. She knows you were just trying to help. And I understand, sometimes I say things a bit harsher than I should. But I promise you Eliza this wasn't your fault." I said. She nodded. "Come on, let's get some food before they get back. You'll need to get ready for rehearsal soon too." I said. and we headed out to Starbucks to grab some food.
