Sixteen

I sat in my usual spot at the table, next to Tom as he gave one of his speeches about ending this war once and for all. I looked up at him as he riled up his followers, his skin was deathly pale now. Finger nails were black, his skin seemed to be tightening, his nose disappearing into snake like slits and his dark eyes I once loved now a blood red. He had been splitting his soul, so he could never be killed. After two years of marriage and war and death surrounding me, I had some sort of life to bring into the world. But I wasn't ready to tell, especially Tom. After Tom had finished his speech, his closest followers joined us for dinner. My family, Bellatrix, Lucius Malfoy and his wife, and none other than Snape.

" Odette?" I snapped out of my thoughts at the call of my name, causing everyone to laugh at me. " You've been distant a while my dear, won't you please share what's on your mind?" Tom smiled at me but I shook my head " Just feel a little under the weather". Tom didn't seem satisfied with my answer " I'm going to give you another chance to answer honestly" I just stared at him blankly " Why don't you drink your wine" I nodded before taking a drink but it tasted off, I licked my eyes and realised " Truth serum" " You didn't think I would have Severus around for nothing" Tom laughed. " Now I'll ask you again, Odette what is wrong with you?". It was like my mouth just snapped open, I had no control over my mouth or my words and I just ended up shouting it out " I'm pregnant!".

The room fell silent as every single pair of eyes were on me " Say that again" " I'm pregnant". Tom just stared at me, his followers worried in case he tried to kill me. " Everyone out!" He screamed causing everyone to leave the room as quick as possible. " Say that to me, one more time" " I'm pregnant Tom" I cried only to scream as he threw the dishes to the floor " How could you be so stupid!" " I didn't make this baby by myself!" " Then who's is it? It's that disgusting mutts isn't it?". I stared at Tom in disbelief " Tom-" " STOP CALLING ME THAT! My name is Lord Voldemort!". " My Lord. I haven't seen Sirius since our wedding, and I haven't slept with anyone else. I'm pregnant with your child".

He looked so conflicted. He wanted to be happy and excited but he couldn't be, he had his scary reputation and a child would ruin that. " You can't keep it" " Excuse me" I said as rage started to slowly fill me. " It's a brat I don't want, so get rid of it" " Don't even try that Tom, you told me you wanted kids" " Not now! Not when I'm so close to winning the war and ruling the world". I slapped Tom hard across the face, he looked back at me in shock " You disgust me Tom Riddle. I am not getting rid of my child because of your stupid ego, even if I have to raise it alone". I stormed out of the house but this time nobody followed me, they had heard everything and nobody wanted to speak up.

I sighed as I walked through the streets of Diagon Alley, looking through the windows of school uniforms and little shoes and I couldn't stop myself from smiling. " Odette?" I turned my head to the voice and my face dropped " Lily, James?" " Oh my god" Lily smiled before pulling me into a tight hug " I missed you so much" " What are you doing out here all by yourself?". " Tom and I got into an argument today and I ran away" " And he didn't come after you?" " Not with this argument". " Come with us" Lily smiled as she grabbed my hand and walked with me, chatting like we used to do in school, as if none of this crap was happening to the world.

We arrived at a very familiar house " Why did you bring me here?" I asked Lily " Not much of a best friend if you forgot his birthday" she smirked at me. We walked inside, Lily making sure I stayed hidden in the back. " James! Lily you made it!" Sirius smiled " And we brought a guest if that's okay" " Of course the more the merrier, who is it?". They stepped aside and I looked at Sirius and smiled " Hi". Sirius said nothing, he just threw his arms around me and held me tight in his arms " I missed you" " I missed you too". " Well if it isn't Mrs Riddle" Lupin smiled at me " Please don't call me that, it makes me sick" " Come on we have dinner all ready, Kreature! Set an extra plate" Sirius yelled at his house elf.

" So tell us what's been happening" James asked as he stared at me " James, this is a family dinner don't question Odette" " I'm sorry, she's his wife I thought she'd know his plans". " He actually doesn't allow me to be present for his plans, he doesn't trust me". " Enough war talk, I actually have some exciting news" Lily smiled, " Im pregnant" I couldn't help but smile " Lily that's amazing" " Thank you, we're so excited" " How far along are you?" " Four months, we didn't want to tell anyone until it was safe". Lupin and Sirius just stared at them " Oh my god, get used to it. Your going to have another member of the pack soon" I smiled at them.

After dinner we sat in the living room, the boys were drinking and talking while Lily and I were drinking water. " Odette, can I ask why you aren't drinking?" Lily asked me " Umm, I uh" " It's okay, you can trust me" I nodded " I'm pregnant Lily". Lily's eyes went wide, " And does he-" " Know? Yes that's why I ran away today. He wants me to get rid of it" " And are you?". "No I could never forgive myself if I did" " So what happened?" " I slapped him, I slapped him as hard as I could across his disgusting pale face". " I thought he was handsome" " Not anymore Lily, his eyes are red, his nose is gone it's more like two snake slits, his finger nails are black. His voice isn't deep anymore it's like a husky whisper. He's bald, pale and he's not the man I loved anymore".

" And you know his new name?" Lily asked " How could I forget, he wants to be called Lord Voldemort". Everyone snapped their heads to me " Why are you saying his name?" " We were just talking Sirius" " Odette was just telling me how he's changed" " He hasn't changed, he's just got more followers" " Not like that". I repeated what I said and they all stared at me like I was crazy " How?" James asked " He's splitting his soul so he can't be killed" " That's impossible" Remus sighed "So there's no ending this war!" Sirius snapped. " Odette you didn't happen to see what he did?" " No, the only people that know are Bellatrix La Strange, Lucius Malfoy and your brother Sirius". I suddenly felt sick as I sat up straight " Odette what's wrong?" Lupin asked " She's going to be sick" Lily ran with me to the bathroom and rubbed my back as I vomited.

" Was it something she ate?" I could see Lily give them a look and everyone's eyes seemed to drop, especially Sirius. " She's pregnant...for him" " Sirius no" Lupin said as James and himself stood in front of him. " Get out of my way!" " Sirius let it go, she's not your wife". " Sirius" I called as I put my hand out, his eyes softened as he looked at me, slowly taking my hand and rubbing my back with the other " I'll never let him hurt you again".
