That night Tom walked me to the entrance of the Gryffindor tower and smiled at me " Thank you Tom, you helped turn my crap night into a good one" " Of course Odette". " Why do you have such an interest in me?" " I honestly don't know, I've never felt any emotions other than anger and rage, but now being around you I'm feeling jealousy, happy, I even smile" " Maybe your just sick?" " Or there's something about you that's drawing me in. I want to know if this is true, a date with me tomorrow" " Where?" " Don't worry about that, just be here by twelve tomorrow" " I-I don't know Tom" " Please, I won't disappoint" " Okay, goodnight Tom" Goodnight Odette" he kissed me gently then left as I walked into the common room. " Well well" I jumped as I saw everyone waiting for me " Oh my god you scared me" " Looks like Odette has a new boyfriend" " No I don't" " Did he ask you out?" I stayed silent " He did!".

I saw Sirius standing in the arch way of the stairs " Sirius please help me shut them up" " Why should I? You practically threw yourself at him tonight" " What?". " I walked away for one minute and you were dancing with him and kissing him" " What? You dumped me! You left me on the dance floor because you said you had a girlfriend". " Sirius!" Lupin said " You told us you went to the bathroom" " He went to go meet his girlfriend, which I'm guessing didn't work out since your pissed at me". I sighed " Sirius you swore to me, you swore we would still be best friends no matter who we were with" " That's changed now" " Why?" " Because your with him! The one guy who picks on all of us!". I stared at him with hurt written all over my face, I could feel my eyes watering " What are you saying Sirius?" " I'm saying don't talk to me, don't look at me, don't come anywhere near me because we are done. I don't want you as my friend anymore, your nothing" he said before storming off, James and Lupin ran after him while I sat on the chair and cried.

I didn't get much sleep that night, my heart was too broken. I still managed to get up and make myself presentable by twelve. " Where are you going?" " My date with Tom" " Your still gonna go? Even after last night?" " Last night is Sirius' problem, not mine" " Odette" Lily stopped me. " Hes right" " What?" " Out of everyone in the school, why him?" " I don't know, you can't help who your attracted to Lily". " Your risking your friendship with Sirius over Tom Riddle" " No, Sirius is the one risking our friendship over him. Last night he left me in the middle of the floor to run off and be with the girl he liked. I didn't do anything but support him. I was on my way to bed when Tom stopped me and brought me back for a dance".

Lily sighed " Fine, go on your date but I don't want to hear about it" I looked at her surprised " So you don't want to hear about my date because it'll hurt Sirius, but we have to listen to you go on about James even in front of Snape". " Thats different" " How is it?" " Because I love James, Tom is going to use you then smash your heart". " Your unbelievable" I said as I grabbed my bag and left to see Tom arguing with Sirius. I stormed down the stairs " Stop it both of you!". " Your really going on date with him" " Leave it alone Sirius" he grabbed my hand " Your gonna ruin your life" I pulled my hand away and pushed him " You know what, all of you can piss off. Not one of you can support me in my decision yet I have supported every single decision any of you have made. Why can't any of you do the same for me?".

Everyone stayed silent, " I'm done, Tom I'll see you another time" I turned around and ran down the stairs and hid in the artefact room, I sat on the floor and cried into my arms and I wrapped my arms around my legs. I must have been in there for hours, my make up was ruined, my skin felt dry and I was taking slow deep breaths. I turned my head when the door opened " There you are, we've all been looking for you" Sirius' voice said " And why would you be looking for me, you made it pretty clear last night where you stood". " And I was a fool for saying any of it. I was angry and upset but that didn't give me the right to hurt you, especially when you've been the best friend anyone would be lucky to have".

I felt him sit beside me " I'm sorry Odette, I shouldn't have said what I said and none of us should have pushed you to this breaking point we caused, but if you'd forgive me I have a surprise for you". I looked at him weary " It's a surprise from all of us, even Tom" " What?" " Just come with me" " But I'm a mess" " Nothing that can't be fixed". Sirius took my hand and brought me back to the common room where Lily and Molly stood with my make up " What are you doing?" " We're going to fix your make up and hair, can't have you looking like a crying mess for your surprise". Lily pulled me into a hug " I'm so sorry Odette", they fixed me up then dragged me downstairs to the courtyard where I stopped and stared at the beautiful sight.

There were fairy lights draping from wall to wall, as well as candles lit and placed around the courtyard, there was a pic-nic blanket placed in the middle of it and that's when I spotted Tom sitting by the fountain. " I told you I wouldn't disappoint" he smirked as he handed me a glass of pumpkin juice. I turned back to see all of my friends standing in the doorway " We thought a lot about what you said, and even though we don't particularly like Tom" " I could say the same" " Shut it. We don't want to lose our best friend, so if being with him makes you happy. Then go be happy" " I love you guys" I smiled as we did a group hug. Tom lead me over to the blanket and set up dinner, he cooked an amazing pasta dish and it was incredibly delicious. He also had a chocolate brownie and after all the food we lay beside each other and stared at the night sky. " The stars are so beautiful, I wonder what it would be like to be that free" " What do you mean?" Tom asked " Not worrying about school, exams or what your going to do with your life. Just constant adventure and travel". " Your an interesting girl Odette".
