"FUCK IT'S COLD!" The cold December air hit the red-tinted face of Y/n. The e/c eyed girl pulled her beanie rightly as she walked down the sidewalk. It was the middle of December, exactly one day before winter break. Somehow, Y/n managed to find the energy to get up and go to school. It happened more often, but sometimes she still would stay at home and skip.
"Winter is the most beautiful season, probably because of the gorgeous Yuki." She thought, stuffing her hands in the warm pockets of her jacket.
The past months were spent by her with training. Counting from today on she had exactly only three more months left till the entrance exams. Sometimes, she would find herself going jogging in the morning with her purple-haired friend. Y/n, for sure grew stronger over the past months. The girl was definitely not at the same level as All Might, but maybe, just maybe she had the chance to beat some second-year students.
Unlocking the front door of the modern house, she kicked her shoes off and took her coat off. The giggling of kids could be heard, and the smell of cookies hit Y/n's nose trills. "Huh?", big green eyes stared at her from afar, "Mommy! Y/n's back!"
Y/n, who just happened to walk into the kitchen, looked at the sight before her. Her younger brothers, both covered in flour with chocolate around their mouths, and the mother of the three children taking a tray of cookies out of the oven. Kukuru, who announced the arrival of his older sister was now munching on a chocolate cookie. There while his twin named Haru tried to rub the chocolate from his mouth.
"And, how was the 'study session' with 'Toshi?" Joshito, also known as 'mom' or, 'mommy', asked her oldest child, wiggling her eyebrows with a playful smirk on her lips. Her daughter only rolled her eyes, grabbing a cookie, "You do know that Hitoshi and I are only friends, right?"
Joshito puffed out her cheeks, and mumbled only for herself audible, "Yeah, sadly..."
Y/n was about to excite the kitchen, but the twins stopped their sister, by tackling the poor sleepy girl to the ground. "Fucking gremlins..." she mumbled angrily.
"Don't be so mean, we only love you, big sis!"
"Yeah, Haru once in his life got something right!" at this statement Haru lost his temper and smacked Kukuru.
"Oi! You know I am right!"
Joshito laughed at the sight, quickly grabbing her phone, that was now covered in flour, and taking a picture. Y/n laying on her stomach on the ground, with her brothers sitting on her back. The cookie, long forgotten, got crushed by the impact on the floor.
"Are you going with us to visit the shrines?" Joshito asked, trying to pull the twins off her oldest child. Y/n, now finally standing again, raised her brows in confusion, "isn't it a bit early for that?"
"Well, we will visit your grandparents over New Year's Eve," Joshito rubbed the flour from her hands, and eyed Y/n with a look that said 'you have to come'.
Oh yeah, the all too familiar once in a year family visit. Oh, how she hated it. Not only does her grandma hate Y/n's guts, but her grandparents live on the land and that meant bad internet connection. How was she supposed to survive a week without her tinkywinky, and with her gremlin brothers?
Joshito was aware of the hatred that lingered between her oldest child and her mother-in-law, but she just couldn't put her finger on it why this hatred existed. It, maybe, would make sense if her husband's mother would hate Joshito instead of her daughter, isn't it like this in every soap opera? But this isn't a soap opera this is real life, Joshito reminded herself.
Since the shrines on the land aren't close to each other, and only reachable to foot. It was quite problematic to go there with a kid that had bad asthma, and grandparents that aren't in the greatest physical health. So the better option was to visit the shrines in town with a car, sadly but not sadly without grandparents.
Y/n groaned and just went up to her room, clearly annoyed about the upcoming family visit. When she entered her room, she nearly choked on the bad air. Y/n quickly pushed the grey curtains away and opened the window. The cold air hit the fragile skin of Y/n, while she climbing onto the window sill and watched the sunset that was only weakly visible due to the clouded sky.
It was probably the last beautiful thing she saw before she fell.
Y/n jolted up in her bed, trying to catch her breath. She looked around her unclean room, and then practically jumped to her backpack that she had before placed on the chair. She ignored the unread messages on her phone and looked straight at the current time.
7:38 pm
Her gaze was now fixed on the opened window. A dry chuckle escaping her lips, "looks like I died again."
It was something she despised with her whole damn heart. Her curse made her life more complicated than it already was.
"How could I be so stupid to fall?" She mumbled while bending over to look through the window.
The sky was now painted in a dark blue, several white dots could be seen in the atmosphere, while the moon gave the darkness some light. Nighttime was something beautiful in her eyes. The cold breeze that would linger outside, the stars that seemed to be so far, and the big moon that would change his appearance so often. She wanted to stay longer, to look longer at the gorgeous atmosphere, but the calling from her mother snapped her out of the trance she found herself in.
It probably would be a long afternoon visiting the shrines.
