A slow smile spread across my face.
"What's her name?" I asked her.
"Isabelle, but we call her Izzy." She said as she started to smile too.
"Tell me about her."
"She's four years old, and absolutely the love of my life. She has so much personality and sass all bottled up in one little girl, that it blows my mind..." Mia said as she continued to talk about Izzy.
I was so lost in her face. She immediately perked up when I asked about her. Her eyes were all but shimmering and she was talking so animatedly. I could actually feel the love she had for her little girl. I can only imagine how hard it has been on her with trying to date. Most guys in their early twenties are just looking for a quick lay, and not a commitment, let alone a woman with a child.
"I'm sorry, I'm rambling." She said as she pulled me back to the conversation.
"You aren't rambling. You're passionate. There is a big difference between the two." I said smiling.
"It's just exciting, I guess. No one has ever really asked about her before." She said.
"Do you have pictures?" I asked.
"Of course!"
As she pulled her phone out, I stood up, and moved my chair right next to her. I sat down and put my arm over the back of her chair.
"Now, I know this is a professional picture, but I just love it so much." She said as she turned her phone to me.
My eyebrows raised at the sight of the gorgeous little girl. She has dark brown hair that is curled perfectly, with big blue eyes that just pull you in. "Mia, she is beautiful!" I said. She looked at me and just studied my face. "Show me more." I said pointing to her phone.
The rest of the pictures, she wasn't quite as pristine. She had pictures of her in the mud as she smiled so big, she had to squeeze her little eyes shut. One with her eating ice cream, and I'm pretty sure there was more ice cream on her face, than in the bowl even though her tongue was sticking out as she tried to lick her cheeks. Mia, of course, had all the pictures of her dressed up like princesses in little sparkly dresses.
"I would love to meet her." I said softly, "Whenever you are ready."
"Before I start crying, will you tell me something about you?" She asked, turning towards me more.
I smiled at her as I set my coffee cup down on the table.
"I was born and raised in Ohio. My parents still live there, and so does my best friend Isaac. I moved out here a little over a year ago. I always loved Montana, and it has been a dream of mine to be able to live out here. I'm a physical therapist for sports injuries, as you know..." I paused, "What else do you want to know?" I asked her.
