Liam came and picked Izzy up on Friday. We spent the whole weekend packing and getting everything together that we needed to fly to L.A. in the morning. Liam was also dropping off Izzy. He asked that I come out to the car and get her though, instead of him coming to the door. I was sitting on the front porch waiting for him when I saw him turn down our road. I walked down to the street and opened Izzy's door.
"Mommy!"
"Hi baby." I said unbuckling her and hugging her. "Say bye to Daddy, and go see Gigi in the kitchen for a snack." I said to her.
She walked over to Liam and gave him a hug before running inside. Liam leaned back on his car and crossed his arms.
"What's up Mia?" He asked.
"I just wanted to remind you that we were leaving in the morning." I said.
"Yeah, I remembered." He said.
"I um...." I said kind of nervously.
"You what?"
"There is a girl at work that just started a few weeks ago. Her name is Sarah. She uh, asked if I knew anyone..." I said shrugging, and fidgeting with my fingers.
"I'm not sure I'm ready for that, Mia." He said.
I looked up at him, "She just wants to get coffee. You never know, Liam." I said softly. I handed him her business card with her personal number written on the back with her name. "She's really sweet."
He nodded as he looked at the card. I slowly backed away as he got in his car and drove away. I walked back inside, and the house was filled with Izzy's laughter and excitement for tomorrow.
We finished all the last minute packing, and laid out everything we needed for the morning. We ordered pizza for dinner, and we all went to bed early.
...
We were up at 7:00am, and I had Izzy sit and eat breakfast as I packed the backpack for the flight. Damien loaded all the suitcases into the truck, and we pulled away at 8:00am. The two hour drive went smoothly as we listened to a Disney song playlist and Izzy talked about how excited she was to meet all the princesses. We got our bags checked and to security, easily. Izzy was a little scared to go through the metal detector, but Damien went first, and she had no problem going right to him.
Once we were through, we went to Starbucks and Damien got Mom and I coffee and Izzy a hot chocolate while we sat at a table. Once our drinks were gone we got a few waters and some snacks for the flight. It was only a three hour flight, so it wouldn't be too bad. We could just put on a movie for Izzy if we needed to.
We got to our gate, and when we boarded, Izzy handed her ticket to the lady at the desk. I didn't realize that Damien had gotten us first class tickets, but I was happy to see that he did. Izzy sat next to the window, and Damien sat with her, while Mom and I sat together.
"Watch out the window, baby girl. We're about to take off." Damien said to Izzy.
"I'm scared, Bear!" she said, grabbing his arm.
"Hey, you never need to be scared when you're with me. It's really cool, watch." He said pointing out the window.
She still held onto him tightly as the plane lifted from the ground.
"Is she ok?" I whispered to Damien.
He nodded and smiled. It didn't take long for her to let go of Damien, and have her little cheek smashed against the window as she looked out. Once we were up in the air, Damien got her a coloring book out, and some goldfish. The flight went well, and Izzy held onto Damien as we landed, but did really well.
