Chapter 10

Ok guys, just a quick note that school starts monday for me and I'm taking a crapton of hours... so will likely go down to updating just once a week. I'll try to update twice, but I don't want to make promises before I know how much time I'll have to focus on writing.

Anyway, here's chapter 10, hope you love it :]

 Chapter 10

 

“We need to get out there,” I insist through giggles. There was a time, only hours ago when I thought I might never giggle—or smile for that matter, again. But here I am, laughing like an idiot while Chase tries once more to seduce into staying in bed all day… or month, I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t be opposed to leaving this room for a full month.

Of course he’s not actually trying very hard to seduce me. If he were, I would be hopeless to resist. No, he’s just enjoying these moments. Enjoying making me smile and touching me. And I’m enjoying it too. Even if I’m suddenly the rational one here who knows we have things to do. People to see. And as much as I don’t want to leave our cocoon, we have to.

“Tomorrow,” he says and nips at my ear. “We can do it all tomorrow.” He nips once again and then growls low. “Tonight you’re mine.”

I give in to him. My hands, which have lamely been attempting to push him away, slide to his back and pull Chase closer. My legs follow suit and wrap around his waist. Chase smiles victoriously and presses into me. His lips are a millimeter from mine and his tongue flicks out, licking them sensually. I groan, wanting more and Chase leans in closer ready to give me just what I—

Knock. Knock. Knock.

We freeze at the sound of someone at the door.

“Maybe if we’re quiet they’ll go away,” I whisper.

“Not going anywhere,” a deep voice yells through the wooden door. I feel my cheeks heat instantly upon recognition. Chase gives me a bland look and yes I realize that in telling him we should be quiet, I exposed us. But how was I supposed to know who was on the other side of the door? Freaking vampire ears. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to it.

“You have five minutes to get dressed and get out here,” he yells again. I cringe that the insinuation that my father knows exactly what we’ve been doing in here. Yes, he’s right. But no, it’s never not embarrassing to be caught by your father. “I would like to see my daughter sometime today.”

Chase grunts loudly letting everyone on the floor know just how unhappy he is with this. I smack his arm and then untangle my limbs from around him and push him off of me. This time he goes easily and flops on the bed beside me, still huffing, upset that our bubble has been popped.

“Would you be nice?” I ask and then quickly change my line of thought. “What am I supposed to wear?” To be honest, the idea of clothing hadn’t really occurred to me in the last several hours. But now that I need them, it’s suddenly of importance that I have something to wear aside from the disgusting rags I arrived in. And something seems… wrong about answering the door to my father wearing Chase’s clothes.

Chase smiles mischievously. I narrow my eyes.

“No,” I say backing away as he stalks closer to me like a predator ready to pounce. Just as he rounds the bed and is close enough to reach me, he chuckles and moves to the side where a dresser is. I do my best to hide the disappointment that he didn’t actually try to catch me. It’s for the best anyway. He pulls open the top two drawers and then backs away, gesturing for me to look.

I step over to the dresser and freeze when I see what’s folded neatly in the drawers. It’s all my things. Pajama’s and underthings in the top drawer, shirts and pants in the second. My heart instantly hurts. I can’t believe he thought to bring these things with him here. Have they been here, neatly folded in the drawers this whole time? Waiting for me. I look at Chase who returns my sad smile.
