" It' completely normal."

I sat in front of Denise with Carl and Luke holding a tissue on my nose and stopping the blood the best I could coming from my nose. Nothing terrible had happened. I didn't get hit or injure myself, but I'm pretty sure I scared Luke for life. I was simply talking to him when blood poured out my nose, and he screamed in horror. Carl heard the little boy scream and escorted us to the infirmary.

" Are you sure ?" Carl asked, and Denise nodded her head, lowering the tissue away from my nose.

" Some pregnant women suffer nosebleeds as a result of increased blood volume and blood vessel expansion in the nose."

" I am one of them." I said, finally being able to smell and looked to Denise." Airways are clear."

" You should be good. Just know nose bleeds now are common and should last only five to ten minutes."

" But she's okay ?" Carl asked, and Denise nodded.

" Perfectly okay."

" Okay, let's get going." I said, stepping off of the hospital chair and helping Luke down." I have to help Maggie with Deanna."

" Are you sure that's safe ?" Carl asked, and I laughed, opening the door and leaving the infirmary.

" We're not putting up drywall or anything, just some digging. Deanna is even going to be there."

" Here." Carl said, taking out his hand gun and passing it over to me." Take it."

" You know I'm the oldest. I'm supposed to be watching after you."

" The roles have reversed." He teased.

I nodded my head bending down to see Luke's sweet smile." You be good with Uncle Carl."

" I will."

" See yeah, Buddy." I said, messing with his hair and heading to the front gate, already seeing Maggie and Deanna holding shovels." Ready ladies ?"

" You bet," Maggie said, but Deanna remained silent.

I didn't expect much from her knowing she was profoundly grieving about losing her husband and son in a matter of a weeks. The three of us walked around to the other side of Alexandria's walls, noticing some left over wall panels and extensions.

" We got some panels to put up, but we don't have to wait to start growing things."

" They'll be some sore backs and tired feet." I teased, looking over to Maggie." Hershel, Maggie's father, taught us how to farm in a world like this."

" That's how you know you've put in a hard day's work." Maggie said, taking a packet out of her pocket and handing it over to Deanna." They found crates of these at a nursery just a few miles out."

" Nursery ?" I questioned.

Maggie's face flush and she laughed at herself," I wasn't supposed to tell you." She whispered, looking back to Deanna," Um, they had tomatoes, carrots, you name it. We can plant them right here. Just need to finish the expansion, and the wall needs to go up."

" Reg wanted this community to grow." I spoke, noticing Deanna's sad eyes looks up to me." You did, too. So that's what we are going to help you do."

I grabbed the shovel from the floor carefully and handed it over to the women seeing her strength slowly return when she reached over and took the shovel from my hand.

" Let's get to work," Maggie said, giving us both a smile and moved to the side, starting to dig.

" I'm surprised you didn't go with Glenn," I said, beginning to dig into the ground.
