" They're suppose to be back by now."

Michonne's words were precisely why I had tears in my eyes and held Luke in my arms tightly. Everyone was suppose to be back by now, but it seemed everyone's CB's were not working, and no communication was going through. The horn of the semi-truck just outside our walls was loud enough to cause the herd to come our way, and now Daryl, Mom, Dad, Glenn, and other Alexandrians were working to stop that.

" The town was overrun. He split off with Nicholas." Michonne stated, and I felt a second round of my nerves jolting." He had this idea that...if we lit a fire, it would stop the walkers from coming here. I tried to go instead. I wanted to. The fire never got lit. We had to keep going. I'm sorry. He said if he got stuck, he would find a way to send a signal."

" A signal ?" Maggie questioned.

" What about my parents ?" I asked, looking to Michonne for some good news.

" They were running to the RV, and they were going to join Daryl and the others to guide the walkers away."

" Open the gate !"

The voice came from my own father, and it was loud enough that Luke lifted his head from my shoulder, confused too. Everyone in Alexandria turned towards the gates, and I could see that Deanna was in a state of shock on the catwalk.

" Open the gate !"

This time, the voice came from my own mother, and I sensed the urgency. I quickly placed Luke next to Maggie and ran to the gates coming face to face with Mom and Dad, racing as fast as they could away from the horde of walkers that were suppose to be following Daryl, Sasha, and Abraham. They leaped through the small gap before Michonne, and I gripped the gate in our grasp and slammed it shut.

The herd reached Alexandria.

I didn't have to glance over the walls to know the walkers had surrounded the area. Their snarls could be heard for miles and made it harder to listen to the person right next to you. I ripped my eyes from the gates turning to my parents and giving them a hug while ignoring how sticky and sweaty they were.

" What happened ?"

" Walkers...got loose." Mom breathed quickly, letting me go and bending over to take a deep breath.

" Dad !" Carl shouted, racing from the street to hug him.

Luke ran over to me, and I picked him up in my arms, noticing his eyes never broke away from the gate of walkers. The frantic voices of Alexandria began to rip through as they all clustered together, waiting for Dad's statement.

" You can hear it." Dad started taking center stage with Mom." Some of you saw it. They got back here, half of them. Still enough to surround us 20 deep."

Multiple gasps echoed through the people, and some even turned away in fear of what that could do to us.

" Look, I know you're scared !" Mom shouted." You haven't seen anything like this. You haven't been through anything like this. But we're safe for now. The panel the truck hit seems intact. We reinforced it just in case. Either way, that wall's gonna hold together. Can you ?"

Everyone shared a nervous glance at one another, knowing deep down that my father was right. If the people here couldn't hold it together, it would be easy for those walkers to just walk right in and kill us all. Luke held onto me tightly, and I rubbed his back, upset with myself that the little boy endured so much in only two weeks.

" The other's, they're gonna be back," Dad promised, and it was something I needed to hear.

" They're gonna be back," Rosita repeated.
