Kayla's pov

I opened my eyes seeing none other than my bedroom in Alexandria surround me. Instantly, a frown came onto my face knowing I should be in the Hilltop with Maggie and Sasha. I sat up still confused hearing children laughing while they played outside and even some adults talking. In fact, it sounded like a festival was happening outside. The air smelled like pancakes and I smiled not smelling it for so long. It was calling my name.

Slipping out of bed, I carefully walked down the steps as fast as my swollen stomach would allow me hearing laughter coming from my kitchen. Reaching the final step, I turned seeing Luke and Daryl in the kitchen making a mess with some flour and cooking what looked like mushy pancakes. My heart skipped a beat and I moved forward feeling the tears in my eyes.

" Daryl?"

He looked up with a smile," Morning babe." He greeted, but I crashed into his chest feeling my sobs rush out of my throat." Hey, is everything okay?"

" I thought I lost you." I cried taking his face into my hands." I thought he killed you."

" Who?"

Daryl frowned at my words," Who?" He questioned only deepening my confusion." It must of just been a bad dream. You're here with us making pancakes."

" Delicious pancakes!" Luke declared.

The tears never stopped running down my cheeks." Oh Luke." I cooed hugging my son close to me and kissing the top of his head." I'm so sorry you had to see what you seen and that I had to leave you."

" I'm strong Mama." He giggled.

I nodded my head proudly," Oh, I know you are. I missed you so much."

" We're always with you." Daryl whispered when music started to play loudly.

I frowned at the noise looking around the kitchen to see where it was coming from, but there was no radio, tv, or speaker that could give off any type of music.

" Do you guys hear that?" I questioned, but they never answered back while I walked towards the front door.

" Kayla, wake up!"

My eyes flung open and I gasped seeing Maggie in my face looking worried. I opened my mouth to ask what was going on when Beethoven's "Symphony No. 9, 2nd Movement" played loudly right outside of our trailer.

" What is that?" I asked taking the covers off of me carefully walking behind Sasha and Maggie.

" The gates are open." Sasha warned staring right outside of the window." There's fires. The music is coming from a car."

Immediately, Sasha went to open the door turning it multiple time only for it to never open. She walked to the window next using all of her strength to pry it open only for the same result.

" I have to turn that thing off."

" There's a window on the top." I pointed out walking over to the kitchen table and placing the chair on top of it.

Maggie grabbed my arm quickly," Dr. Carson told you to stay off your feet." She spoke, worried laced in her eyes.

" I can't let you do this by yourself."

" Sit." Maggie ordered sternly climbing onto the table and hauling herself up to the top of the trailer along with Sasha.

I held the chair for them steadily when the sound of walkers growling filled my ears. Seeing the girls didn't need me to hold the chair anymore, I walked over to the window seeing with the open gates, walkers were piling in quickly.
