HARRY'S P.O.V

"Oh my God!" My mouth hung open, my eyes fixed on the space where Louis was just standing. I sprinted forward, crashing into the bridge and leaning so far over that I nearly fell too.

"LOUIS!!" I screamed in desperation as my eyes couldn't find his body in the gushing water below. The waves smashed against the sides and engulfed each new wave. My heart thundered around my head and I wasn't breathing.

"LOUIS!!" Oh my God. This is all my fault.

"LOUIS!!" The tears fell from my eyes, splutterring too quickly to even touch my cheeks. My hands gripped the railings of the bridge until my knuckles turned white and my skin burned against the frost which was licking the metal.

I huffed out sharply and focused my eyes on the waves. They clashed visciously against eachother and I couldn't imagine Louis living in them. I couldn't imagine him dead either.

Small drops splattered around me and I could only think how cliché the weather was being right now before I took off in panic. I skidded down the slippy surface, hooked my arm around the end of the railing and swung myself around to stagger clumsily down the slope leading to the water.

I jumped on to the rocks with the water spitting at my feet and I was numb to the insufficiency of my lungs. The clouds of breath came and went as fast as my thoughts did and my despiration flickered through the seemingly tsunami.

The rain added to my panic enfused goggles and I struggled even more to try and find a body in the darkness.

There was nothing.

Nothing but the tide that fell and then fought its way further down the channel. Even if Louis was still alive, his body would have been taken away by now. The water was just too quick.

I ran along with the river, not watching my feet but only the water incase Louis was watching me. I slipped and snapped sharply down to the wet rocks benath me. My head bounced against the ground and I just looked ahead. I gazed down my eye-line, past my nose, over the rocks and just stared at the river.

Come on Louis, please, just show yourself. This is hopeless. He's gone. I can't save him.

My body soon started to get as soaked as Louis' probably was which just added to the weight of my conscience.

A bird screaming nearby suddenly woke me up and my eyes widened with fear, I scrambled up and carried on running. I suppose it was the adreniline.

Fight or flight.

I looked ahead and the rocks started to become a lot less easy to walk along, never mind run, and my heart dropped, now what? I snapped my head towards the water, maybe I could go in?

I mean, I could drown but what else is there to do? I could call an ambulance. I fumbled my phone out of my pocket and my fingers were that shaky that I struggled to type my password in. I was so cold but so pumped with adrenaline that I was on fire but the sweat was cold. I dialled in 999.

"This is 999 emergency, what is the problem?"

"My f-friend, he, he just jumped- well fell- into a river and I, I can't f-find him." My teeth chattered as the freezing mixture of tears and raindrops raced down my body.

"What is your location sir?"

"I-I d-don't know. I j-just moved here. I-I'm at a river in Holmes Chapel if th-that helps."

"There is only one river there so don't worry, we know your friend's location. Did you say you that you can't see him?"

"Y-yeah, the t-tide is too f-fast, he's, he's gone further d-downstream."
