I couldn't bear this any longer! For the past two days, I had been avoiding Leon, refusing to speak to him. My restless nights were evident from the dark circles under my eyes, and I couldn't keep up this facade much longer.

Leon, on the other hand, was relentless. He brought me breakfast in the morning, cooked dinner for me, and left sweet notes by my bedside. At times, I found myself on the verge of forgiving him.

But I continued to avoid him, maintaining a distance.

Perhaps I had been too harsh on him. Maybe it was time to consider forgiving him. Or maybe not. I sat on my bed, lost in my thoughts, when he walked in. Panicking, I rushed to the bathroom, hoping he would assume I had left the room.

"Charlotte, I know you're in there. Come out!" he shouted, knocking on the bathroom door.

I remained silent, hoping he would give up.

"I'm just going to wait here until you come out," he declared.

I had been in the bathroom for 30 minutes, and it was getting uncomfortably warm. My forehead was slick with sweat, and the room had grown eerily quiet. He must have left by now.

Carefully, I opened the bathroom door, but before I could close it again, he swiftly intercepted me.

His grip on my hand was firm as he pushed me against the wall, his intense gaze locking onto mine. It was undeniably captivating.

Why was I thinking about this now? There was no more gentle Leon now that I was no longer emotionally broken. I did miss the gentler version of him, but I couldn't deny that this new, assertive side was incredibly attractive.

Well, if he could play this game, so could I.

"Getting a little aggressive, aren't we?" I smirked, trailing my hand down to his abs.

Desire filled his eyes as I kissed him on the cheek once before attempting to pull away.

But my attempt was in vain. His strong hands caught mine, and he gently guided me to sit on the bed.

"Can you please listen to me?" he implored.

I remained silent, and all the earlier tension had evaporated. The reality of my anger and unforgiveness had resurfaced.

"When I talked about Melody, I wasn't finished. Let me continue," he said.

I covered my ears with my hands, indicating my refusal to listen.

He gently removed my hands from my ears, and I tried to cover them again.

"Until I met you. You were the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. Your hair, your eyes, your personality. I was utterly amazed that the Moon Goddess had given me a mate who resembled my ex," he confessed.

"I knew this was my chance at love again, but I was also afraid of getting hurt. Although you both looked alike, your hearts and personalities were different. You're kind, loving, fragile, and so much more. You made me feel loved and compelled me to protect you at any cost. Seeing you so broken pained me, and I promised myself that I would help you become a better version of yourself," he whispered.

Tears streamed down my face, landing on my shirt.

"I love you with all my heart, and I never considered you her replacement. You are two distinct individuals. She was my past, but you are my future—the one I want to spend eternity with," he declared, gazing into my eyes.

"I love you, Charlotte. Truly," he whispered, planting a tender kiss on my forehead.

I couldn't deny my feelings any longer. The past few days without him had been excruciating. In fact, deep down, I had forgiven him long ago. I pulled him close and embraced him tightly, conveying all the longing I had felt for his touch, his voice, his presence.
