I scanned the room, desperately searching for something to cut the ropes binding me. The men guarding me were vigilant, and escape seemed impossible.
Suddenly, an intense rush of wind swept through the room, so powerful it felt like it could carry me away. My gaze locked onto my mate. Her eyes were shut, and a sense of serenity enveloped her.
Her golden-brown hair flowed in rhythm with the wind, and her aura transformed before my eyes. It was unlike anything I had ever seen—strong and potent.
Her eyes fluttered open, revealing a mesmerizing shade of gold, radiating an aura of power that sent shivers down my spine.
I watched in astonishment, momentarily frozen by the raw force emanating from her eyes.
The next moment, she effortlessly shattered the chair that bound her. I could see the shock in her own eyes, but she remained composed.
She was different, no longer the fragile girl I'd met. She exuded strength, confidence, and an undeniable allure.
The men who had been guarding me rushed toward her, recognizing her escape. Panic coursed through me as I struggled to untie myself, but the ropes held fast.
What followed was a whirlwind of astonishment and awe as she unleashed a series of surprises.
Flames erupted from her palms, each fiery blast incinerating the approaching men. One of them had claimed their suits were immune to anything. How was this possible? Did she possess these powers all along, and yet never disclosed them to me?
She gracefully donned a nearby black suit, and every movement she made was captivating. She was my mate, but it felt like I was meeting a different person altogether.
We exchanged a few words before reaching the locked door. I put my utmost strength into kicking it down, but it refused to yield. She took a hammer, delivered a single blow, and the door clicked open.
She rushed to Lily's side, and I joined in to assist. However, it quickly became apparent that Charlotte required no assistance. Her punches, kicks, and bites were as potent as, if not stronger than, an alpha's.
She fought with the prowess of a seasoned warrior, leaving me bewildered. What had transpired to change her so drastically? Where was the mate I had known?
A fresh gust of wind whipped through the room, following her every command, toppling her adversaries.
It was as though the wind was her loyal servant, executing her wishes without question.
We eliminated Austin's men in mere minutes, leaving none standing. Her eyes shimmered with that captivating golden hue.
She took a confident step forward, leading us toward Austin's location. I couldn't resist the urge to grasp her hand and make her look at me.
"Charlotte, we need to talk about all of this," I pleaded.
She remained silent.
"Please," I implored.
"I agree, but right now, I need to focus. This isn't helping, and your pack is in danger," she replied.
"You're right. I won't interrupt again," I conceded with a sigh.
She assumed the lead, and I couldn't help but feel drawn to her like my wolf was under a spell. She moved with the grace of a queen.
The sight that greeted us outside was gruesome, with lifeless bodies strewn across the ground.
Charlotte boldly took a step forward, making herself visible to Austin's men who guarded my house.
My warriors and John were locked in combat with Austin and his followers. The men noticed her and charged, brandishing their weapons.
They were bigger, taller, and heavily armed, while she was unarmed. Yet, she stood her ground, her eyes closed as if awaiting her own demise.
I rushed to pull her back, but she shrugged me off and continued to stand there, seemingly unafraid.
"What is she doing?" I muttered to myself, perplexed and worried about her actions
