Plastic surgery didn't exist. No one knew what someone looked like.

When we're born, our parents don't get to see us. They put masks on our faces and we wear them every SINGLE day.

I don't even know what I look like. We look in the mirror and wonder what's under those masks.

You can't even take them off. If you try, you get shocked. Trust me, I've tried.

"Charli!" Mom calls.

Do I even look like a Charli?

I get up and go in the bathroom. I look in the mirror and start to cry. I can't hate myself if I don't know what I look like.

"You're gonna be late!" She says.

10 minutes later...

I see Noah kicking Dixie's ass in basketball and I walk over to them.

"Hi baby." I say.

She kisses me and I smile.

We've been dating for 2 years and we argue a lot. We argue over stupid shit. We argued because stole my Dunkin. Yes, I slapped her.

"How do you breathe in these masks?" I ask.

"Wear it for 17 years straight and you get used to it." Dixie says.

I laugh and she smiles.

"Y/n." I say.

"Hmm?" Noah asks.

"I have to get a new mask tomorrow. Will you still love me?" I say.

"Of course. Your mask doesn't define who you are as a person." She says.

"I love you." I say.

I smile and she kisses me.

"Aww." Dixie says.

I starred at the wall until the door opened.
