If you know what he's like Will you ever love him? If you knew everything Will you let your lights go dim?
Coming out of the blue Watching a friend like you Suddenly turned a color with no hue Into something that has a value
I thought you'd be mine forever I thought you'll never say never You and I couldn't stay together Like a storm and earth as ever
Watching with horror With a heart full of terror A friend like you lost his color Even I couldn't bear this shame even more
My song in the night The one who gave me light My heart closed so tight Seeing you drift away like a kite
A friend like you I can have no trust Turning away seemed like a must Promises and vows, left away to rust Even a worker would take months to dust
My heart turned to steel As you left, I was forced to kneel Crying in pain, begging while facing your heel "Don't leave me, you've made that a deal!"
Yet you never looked back My heart made a deep crack I asked myself, "What do I lack?" I've asked for days, I lost track
A friend like you turned my color back to with no hue You appeared, then disappeared out of the blue Please tell me that this isn't true
What would I do If I met someone again like you? Maybe I'd slam his face on a shoe Or send him flying without a clue

Thirteen-year-old me didn't know the difference between friends and lovers. That's disappointing.
Otherwise, this is one of the earliest poems I wrote when I picked it up again in eighth grade. Judging from the past stuff I've published on this collection, this one is decent. It shows emotion, it tells a story (albeit a bit problematic on some parts), and most of all, it's not cringy (maybe).
