Trouble and Tutoring

The next day I went to all my classes realizing Malfoy was in every one of them except one. I was we didn't get assigned seating so I'd sit with either Alethea or Cedric. Cedric, although in 7th year, took some extra-curricular classes that I had as well.

Cedric turned out to be a really good friend. He was kind, but he also had a side of mischief to him. He was also really smart and helped me a lot in my classes, since he'd already done them in his 4th year. I needed that help because I was almost failing half of them. I don't know why, usually I was a pretty average student. But this year classes got much harder. And thus my mood was really off for the first few days of school.

Two certain people noticed this and made it their mission to bring joy into my life. And that's how I found myself being dragged along with them during dinner. "We're going to play a prank on Filch." Fred explained. "You're going to love this we promise." George said. "Won't he see us here?" I asked as we entered his office. "No, he's at the feast right now." Fred and George slipped inside to plant something in his office. I was told to keep an eye out for him and stand outside the office. But things didn't go to plan.

I saw Mrs. Norris first and my eyes widened. Before I could say or do anything, Filch was dragging me by the arm. "Oh no no no, you're in trouble now." He muttered. I didn't dare rat out Fred and George, they'd soon realize what happened. I thought we'd be going to Snape's Office, instead, Filch took me straight to the Headmaster's Office. Panic entered my throat. If we were going to go see Dumbledore, surely this would mean that I was getting expelled. I stood on the stairs as they swirled up. I pushed the huge doors and entered. The office was circular. I saw Snape standing in front of Dumbledore's desk.

But he wasn't the only one. Malfoy stood behind Snape. Why was he here? All three stared at me as I came in. I slowly walked up to Dumbledore's desk, standing at a respectful distance. I looked up at his twinkling eyes behind his half-moon spectacles. "Professor I-" He held up a hand. "It seems we have two, not one, seemingly troublesome students here." Snape said, "They were both caught in the halls during the feast, clearly looking for trouble." Dumbledore shook his head. "Ah, I think I have a solution." He smiled turning to me. "I have heard, Miss Y/L/N, that you are struggling in your classes?" I slowly nodded. He turned to Malfoy. "And you, Mr. Malfoy, are one of the smartest in your class, although you don't always show it." Dumbledore said with a wink. Malfoy nodded.

Dumbledore leaned back. "Then it's settled. Mr. Malfoy, I would like you to tutor Miss Y/L/N everyday until further notice. Maybe this should keep you both busy and you won't have any time to meander the halls looking for trouble." Malfoy and I were both excused, but as I passed Snape, he smirked, almost as if he knew something we didn't.
