I know I didn't post yesterday, BUT I did write. So this chapter is almost twice as long as my other ones, so enjoy!

Also you've probably guessed by now I'm not exactly sticking to the exact plot of the books but overall, all the events will eventually take place, just in different orders.

"So you have to purposefully get close to Slughorn?" I asked Harry. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Jack and I were studying in the library. Ever since the "Amorentia" incident, things had been slightly awkward between Jack, Harry, and I. Draco was a whole other story, but he had stopped talking to me, so I was saved the extra embarrassment. He was constantly missing classes and every time I saw him, he looked more tired than before. Harry nodded, "Pretty much, yeah. Dumbledore said it was important."

Ron put down his book. "You know what we need? A break. Hogsmead? Tomorrow?" I looked around and shrugged. "Works for me." Harry nodded. Hermione was a lot more hesitant. "Okay fine, but we really have to study more, the exams are going to be ever more harder this year." "Jack?" I asked. He nodded and smiled. "Great." I set down my notes, "I would kill for a good butterbeer right about now."

-----Draco's POV (later that night)----

I looked around while exiting the Room of Requirement. It was 3:00am, if I was caught out of bed I would probably be expelled. But at, this point, I kind of wished I was. Repairing the stupid cabinet was more than just physically demanding. I was nowhere near to fixing it. On the other hand I also had my other task to fulfill. Hopefully the cursed necklace will work. I 'd just have to see tomorrow.

I got into my bed. Sleep tugging at me but anxiety keeping me awake. I hated sacrificing my sleep on the cabinet. I hated having to plan murder. I hated working for Voldemort. I hated the look of the ink on my skin more than the burning pain it caused. I hated not being with Y/N. And even more, I hated watching her laugh and smile at Jack instead of me.

Amorentia had changed everything. That day in potions had made something very clear. I was not the only one who wanted her. But even more depressingly, I was not the only one she could choose.

------Y/N's POV-----

I awoke the next day. Fresh from a good night's sleep. I tugged on a green sweater and some jeans and wore a black coat on top. I styled my hair, applied some makeup, and I came out of my common room. I met the rest of my group at the entrance to the school. I went out and a cold breeze blew by. I shivered. "Whew I didn't realize it was this cold." Jack took off his scarf. "Here, I'm not too cold." "Are you sure, I mean-"

He walked up to me and wrapped it around my neck. "Looks better on you anyways." He smiled. The scarf was warm and smelled like Jack's sweet fragrance of lavender. "Thanks." I blushed. "Oh pshh, get a room you two." Ron chuckled. I looked away and Harry coughed. On the corner of my eye I saw Hermione stomp Ron's foot. "That's not funny Ron, read the room." She whispered, but I heard.

We all walked down to the Three Broomsticks. Inside, people were bustling around. We found a booth and went to go sit down. I sat between Jack and Hermione, opposite of Ron and Harry. We ordered our butterbeers. "Ew, ugh I want to leave." Ron said. "Why?" I looked back to see what he was looking at. Ginny and Dean were snogging in their booth. I uncomfortably looked back to our table. "It's not that big of a deal." I said. "Well she's my sister." Ron replied. "So? If she looked over here and saw you snogging me, she wouldn't mind." Hermione piped in. The tension was so thick it could be cut with a knife.

Finally, our butterbeers arrived and the conversation became lighter. Slughorn came into the room. Harry greeted him. "Ah, well I was thinking of hosting these parties, would you be interested m'boy?" Slughorn asked. Harry nodded. "Very well, and of course Mrs. Granger you are invited as well." She smiled. "And...my my, are you Y/F/N's daughter? Well by all means you should come as well!" I smiled. "It would be my pleasure, sir." "Wonderful, wonderful." He chuckled. My eyes flitted across the room. I saw Draco's blonde hair leaving the pub. It was the first time I'd seen him in weeks.

I stood up. "Excuse me you guys, I'll be right back." I made my way across the room and left the pub. I looked around to see Draco making his way back to the castle. "Draco!" He stopped, but without turning back, he continued to walk. "Draco wait!" I ran and stood in his path. I looked up to him. I was stopped by how awful he looked. His eyes had lost their shine and were deeply sunken in their sockets. I didn't realize I had been staring. "If you have something to say, go on, or you're wasting my time." He seethed.

"Draco, please...tell me what's wrong, I want to help you." I pleaded. For a second his gaze shattered. For a second, I saw vulnerability behind the cold mask he wore. But just as fast as it had come, it was gone. He resumed his cloak of armor. "No." He sidestepped me. I grabbed his hands. "Please, I-I miss you Draco. Was everything we had just a game to you? I need you, and from what I can see, you need me too." He stopped in his tracks. I thought that finally, he'd apologize or say something.

Instead he ripped his hand out of my grasp. He looked back, anger flaring in his eyes. "Need me?" He seethed. "By the looks of it, you don't need me." His eyes flitted to the scarf around my neck, then snapped back up. "I'm not another broken person you can fix, Y/N. You're kind, and pure, and innocent. I'm the complete opposite. You think you can just waltz into my life and change who I am? You don't know who I am. You don't know...what I am. And worst of all, you don't know what I've turned into. So keep yourself away from me." With that he turned and walked back to the castle.

I stood stunned in the snow. Was I going to cry? No. I was not going to cry over some bleach-haired boy who thought he was self-entitled. I tried to make him understand and I had tried to break down his barrier, but I was not going to waste any more of my time or my tears over him. I turned to head back. I saw Katie Bell with her friend, I waved. But she didn't see, she was trying to open some sort of package. I kept walking and saw Harry, Ron, Hermione and Jack walking up to me.

"Did-" I started but then I heard the scream. I turned back to see Katie lifted into the air like a corpse. She was jerked to the left and right violently. I gasped and stepped back. I felt Jack put an arm around me. With a final twitch she fell to the floor. Hagrid came out of nowhere and picked her up. I looked down to see a necklace lying on the ground. "No one is ter touch that." Hargid said as he walked back to the castle.

We were escorted inside to tell McGonagall what we had witnessed. "Tell me why whenever something happens, it's always the three of you?" She asked. "Believe me Professor, I've been asking the same thing to myself for six years." "Poor Miss Y/L/N and Mr. Knightley have been caught in your little incidents this time." She looked over to us with pity. "One more thing Professor, it was Malfoy who did it." Harry piped in. I looked over and glared at him. "That is a strong accusation Mr. Potter, what is your evidence." McGonagall asked.

"Yeah Harry what's your evidence?" I repeated, intensifying my glare. Draco was an arse, but I wasn't going to let Harry falsely accuse him of something. Harry looked back, apology in his eyes, "I don't have exact evidence, I just have a feeling." McGonagall nodded. "Very well then, you are excused."

We walked out. Ron and Hermione headed over to the library, Jack had to meet up the Professor Sprout. I followed to Harry. "Harry! You can't go accusing people like that. Just because you don't like Malfoy doesn't-" "Y/N I am 100% sure Malfoy's a death eater, okay? And I know that you two may be best of friends-" "We most definitely are not-" "but I don't want him to hurt you." We came to a stop in front of his common room.

"I know you...see me as a...a good friend. But you're much more important to me." His green eyes deepened surround by the warm hues of the lights. "And I know I can be awkward, and weird, and sometimes get in the way. I've seen you get annoyed at me many times." I chuckled slightly at that. "But know that at this point I've lost almost every person important to me. I-I don't want to lose anymore." He choked slightly.

I pulled him in for a hug. "Harry I am so sorry. I never really thought about your perspective. And I'm sorry for not making things clear from the start." I pulled back from the hug. "I've never really thought of in a romantic way, you've always been my best friend." He looked at his feet. "Yeah I've come to realize that...and I'm okay with it." I smiled. "I'm glad we could clear it up." He nodded, then a mischievous smile spread across his face. "Jack on the other hand..." He said, I pushed him playfully. "Okay and what about the way Ginny looks at you?" He seemed genuinely surprised. "But she's with Dean." I started walking away. "Not for long." I said in a sing-song voice. He chuckled and went inside his common room.
