We arrived at St. Valentin's Church.
Jamie threw his boots on the wheel and immediately began snoring.
Rolling my eyes, I exited the vehicle and ran up the church steps. The church was all white with giant pillars that reminded you of a Greek god's residence. Each water fountain near the stairs was surrounded by flower petals that even in the night vibrated the whole building. It felt like a sanctuary for those who needed it.
Taking a breath, I walked up the stairs, through the doors and all the way to the front. It was tremendously beautiful at the front. Stone carvings of all types of angels amassed the podiums and the walls were decorated with huge religious paintings.
As I was admiring, a voice startled me from the behind.
"I've been expecting you." Gala declared.
"Good, that'll make our conversation so much funner if we're both willing to talk to each other," I told him. "I want to know more about demons."
"And anything else?"
I didn't say anything.
Gala however pried again. "There's something else you want. You need not be shy. Do tell me."
I looked up into his eyes. "And I want you to teach me how to get rid of them."
He nodded. "And so I shall. Follow me, Raven."
He motioned out his hand. I grabbed it, after a few seconds of hesitation. I mean what if it turns out this dude is a demon? Hmm....maybe I should have brought holy water with me in case?
Gala led me to a blue door and using a key, opened the lock. He ushered for me to go in so I did. What I saw made my jaw drop.
It was like Hologram city. Visual 3D images of planets, lands, and people appeared across the whole area.
"Woah," I moved my hand to touch a tiny blue person but Gala slapped my hand away.
"Please do not interfere with the presentation, you ill mannered brat," he spat.
Ugh, how badly I wanted to insult him but it'll have to wait until AFTER I find out how to kick demon ass. The fool needs to fill me in on his secret and fast!
"You see, the universe is ever changing, one thing never stays in one form, and it adapts to where it goes."
"Darwin already discussed the whole evolution thing but by all means, you can lecture me again on all this stuff, I could always use a review in case I ever have to fight a biology or anthropology loving demon," I said, sarcastically. Can't this hippie get straight to the point?
Gala sighed. "OK, I'll skip over the whole introduction I had planned."
"Good." I smiled sweetly at him as his face turned sour. He was clearly getting slightly annoyed.
"To put it all plainly, I run a demon hunting organization. We give humans superpowers so they can fight the unholy beasts and summon them back to hell."
"Why not kill them? Sending them to hell, really? Won't those jackasses just rise back up from the underworld?" Seriously, knuckle job, what kind of organization are you running? All you're doing is amusing the demons who'll likely do it again. Slaying them is the only excellent, top notch solution.
"We send them back to hell because of Satan. They are his. God made it clear that we were not to kill any of his kin so as not to cause any problems. However, they're evil sneaky pricks who come into earth when they should be banned. These foul demons find it funny to toy with humans' emotions, making them do crazy things, granting their desires in a messed up way or downright destroying them. Usually, a demon comes when someone summons them. Sadly, some of them, especially the higher status demons are harder to send back so we would just trap them in the earth world in objects or places. But even that spell can be broken." Gala continued. "So therefore, as much as we despise the devil, we don't kill his creations even if they themselves hurt or kill people."
