CHAPTER NINETEEN

The Gymnasium was perfectly packed with unwavering chants and banters. My ears seemed to extravagantly swell as I could not impede the train of ravaging voices cooing my head. The game turned extremely serious in both teams. Bellamy was panting, his perfectly carved jaw was dotted with trickling sweats, his forehead was creased, his brows were perfectly arched beneath the decisive gleam of his eyes. His ironclad chest was abruptly mounting to its highest throw as he tried to catch the breath he can scarcely intake.

The scorching determination on Bellamy's eyes sent an electrical surge within me. Despite his poor composure when he went to the center of the court before the game started, he tried to recollect himself to be driven by unwavering determination to win. Mayhap the accord we discussed made him this potentially hungry of triumph? Or was I just assuming things? But looking how absolutely driven he was and his eyes and rigid expression can attest to that, I was in the verge of believing my own conclusion.

Considering that Bellamy was skillfully adept on this field, his team must have soared to the unreachable pinnacle of the scoreboard, however, in a very obvious circumstances, Kei was a beast on the field ready to equal Bellamy's strength and skills. In all fairness, Kei was also wiping with some sort of struggling determination to win. Despite his cool persona, the heat of glaring determination lingered through him. A smile crept on my face as I realized that neither of the two de Chavez was willing to raise the white flag.

My eyes were fixated to Bellamy who was seldom glancing at me when he was getting a point. However, if he noticed that I was looking at him, he was just going to roll his eyes like an attitude little prick who was so irked to pay attention to anyone. How could he give off that some kind of childish vibe? Smirking, I shook my head in astonished disbelief.

When the team of Bellamy asked for a timeout, it was when Bellamy strode briskly to his phone and tapped the screen as though he was totally annoyed and perversely diverting all his energy to his poor cellphone. My phone beeped, I glimpsed at Bellamy who looked so expectant to what I was going to do. Taking my phone out of my bag, I opened his message.

From: Bellamy

I'm gonna win this. Hope you won't forget your promise.

Clicking my tongue, I typed my reply to him. His coach seemed to neglect Bellamy on the bench. His teammates were huddled together to their coach to give his advices.

To: Bellamy

Of course, I won't.

Agad naman akong nakareceive ng mensahe galing sa kaniya.

From: Bellamy

What was that Singson doing? He seemed to lean over your shoulder.

My forehead creased. Ano bang problema nito?

To: Bellamy

For the sake of the game, Bellamy, stay focused. Kung ano-ano napapansin mo.

He did not have time to reply to me. Tinawag na siya ng kaniyang coach at ilang segundo lang ay nagpatuloy na ang laro. The game did not go easily, it was a tight game and both teams were playing as if it was their last game to attend. Kung sa bagay, after this, students will be all stuck to reviewing and finishing requirements and after 2 weeks, the semester was done. What a fast moving motion of time!

As the time brushed its last second, the favor was on Bellamy's side. He was smiling, triumphantly doing his manly gestures to his teammates. On the other side of the court, I saw Kei who just nodded his head toward Bellamy and scurried off to the shower room. I thought Bellamy would wait until the number of the students in the Gymnasium deplete, however, the all smiles Bellamy wheeled toward the bleacher I was seated onto. His eyes flashed to steel annoyance when his eyes directed to Garrett who was lowkey sitting beside me.
