She's so beautiful.

That was what I first thought the moment I lay my eyes on her. Wearing her cute floral dress paired with pink lacey sandals, she clutched tightly onto the hem of Sir Roberto Gomez— her Father. I grinned mischievously as I watched her eyes clouded with fear. Saan ka takot? I wanted to ask but the way her eyes wandered around; I concluded that she might afraid of the people around.

As the prism of speckled dots from the grandiose chandelier that draped at the center of the ballroom, I silently watched the girl who seemed like she was lost in the throng of unknown people. Why would she sport that kind of expression when she obviously owns the whole venue? She was fucking the daughter of Mr. Gomez.

The talk of the people around us rolled over the table as we, the young ones, found it boring and exhaustive. However, the girl in front of me had somehow shown a bit of interest in the adult talks. What was her name? I wanted to ask when her cold eyes gazed up upon my face. I startled and I froze in my foot when she cast the glow of indifference on her eyes. Wow, she's the first girl even ignored me. With my age— 10 years old— I got a lot of girls admiring me. Aside from being the de Chavez scion, I also had the looks that allure girls my age or even a year older than me. I gritted my teeth when I assumed that she might just be feigning a nonchalant expression. Who would ignore the Bellamy de Chavez?

But then, I was all wrong. Fucking bastard. You were too full of yourself that you neglect the fact that not all girls can be attracted to your pretty face. Hours had passed and we already left the huddle but my eyes were fixated on the girl who looked like she was about to vomit. I bet she didn't even notice my presence. I rolled my eyes as I saw Lilith, my best friend, who happened to be her sister.

"Lilith," I called when she wheeled near our table.

Wearing her pink dress, she smiled at me, "Yes?"

"Why does she look like she's lost?" I asked, pointing to the girl beside her Father.

Lilith exasperatedly rolled her eyes, "That's because she's not fit to this kind of place."

"Huh?" Confusion lined a crease on my forehead.

Lilith just gave me her nonchalant shrug and kept her mouth shut. A gust of curiosity whipped against my mind, making me think about that girl. All I thought was that she was the daughter of Mr. Gomez, I hadn't thought that she was his illegitimate child. Nalaman ko noong tinanung ko si Papa patungkol doon.

Walang araw na hindi ko naisip ang malamig niyang mga mata. Something about it that sent a shiver down my spine. Was this what they call puppy love? Yes, I was a tad bit curious about her. Who wouldn't anyway? With her cold freezing gaze, she could pull me into the trance. Month after month, the swirl of excitement intensified as I dived into the bubble of my imagination. Sa susunod na birthday ni Sir Roberto, I will not falter to talk to that girl.

I can befriend with her, right? I wanted to make her my girlfriend. I wanted it so badly since I heard Tommy— my basketball teammate made the daughter of his Yaya his girlfriend. I am 11 years old now.

A soft chuckle flies out of my mouth as I thought about my way of thinking when I was young. Since then, I was drowned on her. Never did I think way back that my feelings for her would fade, nor will it deplete. Gusto ko na siya noon at wala akong ibang ginusto kung hindi siya lang. However, my dreams were mauled by the jackhammer of realization. She wasn't coming. She was absent from her Father's birthday party.

Disappointment dawned on me. Sayang naman at pinaghandaan ko pa naman iyon. Bakit kaya siya hindi pumunta? It was his father's birthday day. Gusto kong tanungin si Lilith kung bakit wala ang kaniyang kapatid ngunit hindi ako makahanap ng tiyempo. Also, I noticed that she didn't like the idea of talking about her sister. But when I asked her before the party ends, she just gave me her nonchalant shrug.
