CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

Under the shade of a tree meters away from the College of Engineering, Tamara and I opted to take a seat on the bench situated beside the tree. With the howling wind of the cold morning swirled frigidly, creating a tendrils through the dust and some unknown particle on the ground. As the sun inched away from the thick bank of clouds, the mystifying bright golden light peered, pouring down the golden glow throughout the vicinity. Above us, some birds that perched on the braches of the tree warbled soothingly.

I didn't know if their first period had yet to start. Looking around, I could feel a mere comfort from the vicinity. During the Christmas break, it felt like I'd spent it with nothing but to lament and conjure some inappropriate things.

Her eyes were sparkling as if she was awaiting for someone to get out of the building.

"Ano ba iyan! Kaunti palang nakikita kong gwapo!" Tamara said and pouted.

"May klase pa tayo," I informed.

She clicked her tongue and snatched a glimpse to the College of Engineering. He was all smiles while holding the strap of his backpack. His soft features were emphasized as the golden glow from the sun poured through him.

"Good morning, Lia, Tamara!" He looked at me, "what are you doing here?" Garrett smiled.

"May tinignan lang kami," I retorted and grabbed Tamara's hand, "Ah, sige Garrett, una na kami. Mag sisimula na rin kasi klase namin."

"Okay," Garrett smiled and waved his hand.

The sun was peering painfully, bank of clouds were adorned meters away from the supreme sun as it bathed the premises with the golden light laced with bearable twinge. Windows of some buildings that rose around glinted in blinding glow as the sun illuminated its light to it. Tamara and I walked silently along the murmuring students and busy faculties. When we finally reached our Department, we decided to spend the remaining minutes to be seated in our room.

Wala namang masyadong gagawin. Our professor met us just to discuss about the scope of the subject and also distributed some topics for us to report on the coming days. When lunch break took over, Tamara excused herself. I shrugged it off and went directly to the Library.

My heart hammered my chest at the sight of her. She looked furious as she sauntered her way towards me. Ano na naman ang ginagawa niya dito?

"Pwede ba tayong mag-usap?" Tangin saad niya, her voice was cold but the threatening of anger was felt.

"Ano pang pag-uusapan natin?" I asked coldly despite the lump on my throat.

She was shocked to how I responded. But then, the shock that was blanketed her face was slowly turned into something I cannot fully determine, something that equated wrath. I realized, may bago pa ba? She always hated me. Maging ang paghinga ko ay kinaiinisan niya.
