CHAPTER FIVE

As soon as we emerged from the venue, the frigid wind raptured the blazing fire of bittersweet longing and sorry to my father. The howling wind sent me to another level of painful surrender to the conformity as it is the supposed orthodox approach to a child like me.

The number of media personnel did not vanish, nor did deplete outside the venue as though they are waiting for an intriguing news to be written on newspapers and be televised.

These media personnel may not be aware of who I am and that's a good thing. They probably think that I am just simple daughter of someone inside— not a daughter to the one and only Roberto Gomez.

"Everleigh, wait!" Bellamy called, trying to catch my pace.

I stood silently on the sidewalk across the street as my eyes are so fixated to the hotel stood elegantly in front of me. The moon inched away from the bank of clouds that hampered its silver ray to pour down. As the moon moved away from the clouds, the silver glow started to dance downward, giving an aesthetic view to all creations above.

I shook my head, "Nope,"

He scoffed, "Nice try,"

I rolled my eyes and exhaled heavily, "Alam mo naman na pala, tapos tatanungin mo pa."

"Why did you cry, then?"

I shrugged, my eyes are still on the image in front of us, "Is it bad to cry when you see your father's milestone in life?" I shook my head, "Akala ko ba ay may pupuntahan tayo?"

His eyes look serious as they fixed on mine. He's disturbingly quiet as though he's diving into the depth of my soul, searching for the chest of mysteries that lies within. The lurking of seriousness beneath his shivering expression made me nervous. Takot akong makita niya kung gaano ako kahina. Hindi ko kailangan ng awa— that's the least thing I need right now.

"I'll just get my car," aniya sa mababang tuno, halos tumindig ang balahibo ko.

I nodded, "Okay,"

We barely know each other. A few interactions with him, I know that he's not the type of person na gagawa ng mabuti sa 'yo kasi trip niya lang. His aura speaks with demand and danger. No mercy.

Kung ginagawa niya man 'to dahil kapatid ko si Lilith ay mabuti. Pero bakit may iba akong nararamdaman? Something is really off and I cannot pinpoint it.

A black Strada halted in front of me. It bothers me to see him like this. I used to see him playful.

I looked outside the window when he started driving the car.
