IT'S REALLY YOU ON MY MIND

Loneliness wafted throughout the mansion the moment his presence was no longer within the expanse space.

Millie sighed loudly as she stepped out of her bathroom, already feeling the emptiness that reached out to hollow her chest. She was always as hollow as this mansion, but the drugs helped to veil that truth.

The help was busy tending to their duties as they avoided her. They never really bothered to see if she enjoyed their presence around her. Her parents preferred solitude, to keep their workers out of their sight. Because of this, they typically stuck to these rules as well for Millie.

Although her housemaid, Cara, did tend to check up rarely. Something about looking out for her and keeping an eye on her. Those moments were rare throughout the day and incredibly short.

In all retrospect, the maids here should have been around much more if they truly wanted to keep an eye out on the girl.

Because right under their noses she was sniffing her daily doses of cocaine to send a rattling shock to keep her heart beating erratically. She was surprised that after so long, they never happened to catch the dilated look in her eyes. She wondered if anyone had.

She wondered if Finn noticed.

This wasn't exactly a part of her she tended to share with anyone. And though she was beginning to open up more to Finn in ways she wasn't familiar in doing so with anyone else, she wanted to hide this. It was one thing to have him believe she used drugs for fun, for parties, with friends. It was another to have him knowing she used it daily to put that familiar thump in her chest that proved to her that she was still alive.

Millie quickly shook away the thoughts. How was it that he had been gone such a short time and he was already sneaking into her mind? To be honest, she didn't really appreciate how easily he crept into her thoughts. She didn't want to appear so attached to the thought of him. But at the same time, a part of her just wanted to think of him more. A bigger part of her wanted to push him further away, against her better will.

Something told her that despite her curiosity of him, despite how she latched onto him so easily, things could get dangerous for her around him. She had this gut feeling that she had to be careful, although she knew he wasn't dangerous. There was just something there, though, that she couldn't shake away.

As she lay along her mattress, she mindlessly caressed the bedspread at her sides. Softly, her fingers traced the fabric. And her traitorous brain sprung up the remnants of the hours of the night in which he had spent alongside her.
