Y/n awoke with a jerk. She sat up quickly in bed, sweating and panting like she just ran a marathon. Loud booms of thunder could be heard from outside, shaking the bedroom. "O-Of course it had to be a thunderstorm. Of all the things!", said Y/n to herself. Ever since she was a little girl, Y/n had always been absolutely terrified of thunderstorms. There was one reason why she didn't like them, but she swore to herself to never tell anybody.
Another crackle of thunder sounded off outside, causing Y/n to yelp and throw herself under the covers. "There is no reason to be scared right now. Mr. Loki is in the room and so is Peter. They'd protect you from anything. It's fine. E-Everything's fine", said Y/n, trying to reassure herself. Y/n slowly peeked out from underneath the covers, looking around the room. Like before, thunder roared throughout the sky outside, making Y/n flinch. "I'm not going to be able to fall asleep", said Y/n. She sat up and looked over at Peter, who was sleeping peacefully. Then she looked over to her left and saw Loki sleeping as well. Y/n could have sworn that his eyes were still opened, but she just thought it was the dark playing mind games with her. "Maybe if I sleep by Mr. Loki, I'll feel better", she said.
Y/n got out of bed as quietly as possible so she didn't wake Peter up. She made her way to the edge of the nightstand she was on and looked to see how far Loki's bed was from where she was standing. "If I don't make this jump, I'm done for", Y/n said to herself. Y/n took a few steps back, ready to practically throw herself onto Loki's bed. "Okay, 3..2..1!", Y/n said. She ran as fast as should could and leaped off of the nightstand. Y/n landed onto the bed with a thud. "O-Oh my goodness. I am never doing that again", she said to herself as she got up. Y/n looked up to see Loki laying right there in front of her. "No going back now", she said.
She walked up to Loki's right shoulder and grabbed a hold of the green cloth. Before she started climbing, she stopped dead in her tracks and checked one last time to see if Loki was still sleeping. "Please be asleep, please be asleep", she said.
His eyes were closed, thankfully. Y/n continued through with her plan and started climbing to the top of Loki's shoulder. When Y/n was halfway there, she heard what sounded like a soft chuckle coming from Loki. She paused and slowly looked up at him. His eyes were still closed and he seemed like he was still sleeping. So, Y/n carried on anyway.
She made it to the top of his shoulder and slowly started to move her way down to his chest. Y/n wanted to sleep here to feel safe. She hoped that if she laid with Loki, her fears she was having that night would go away.
She took every step as if it would be her last. Y/n didn't want to wake Loki up. She wasn't sure if he'd be mad at her or not for doing this, but she still went through with it anyway.
Y/n finally made her way to the middle of his chest and laid down. As soon as her head hit the green fabric, she was consumed in warmth. There was so much heat radiating off of Loki and Y/n for once felt at home as if she were in her own bed back at the Avengers Tower.
Suddenly, there was a slight pressure on Y/n. She looked up to see Loki's hand draped over her like a blanket. Y/n turned around, laying on her stomach, to find herself in the gaze of the mischievous god.
"Oh goodness, have you become attached this quickly?", asked Loki with a smirk on his face. Y/n's face turned pale, unsure if he was mad or not. 'He was awake", thought Y/n.  "I-I..I'm sorry", said Y/n. She put her head down, refusing to look up at him. Loki raised an eyebrow and asked, "What are you sorry for child?"
"I-I didn't mean to come over here without your permission it's just..u-um.." Y/n couldn't tell Loki the real reason as to why she came over here. So she tried telling a little, white lie. "I-I was cold. The blankets weren't helping so I thought that if I came over here, it would help", said Y/n. Loki stares at her for a moment before saying, "Small one, acting all cute and innocent isn't going to help the fact that you just lied to me." Loki gently lifted her chin up so that Y/n was forced to look up at him. "What's the real reason for you coming over here?"said Loki. Y/n was about to answer him when thunder rang outside. "Ahh!!", screamed Y/n. She put her hands over her head and curled up into a ball. Loki immediately cupped his hand over Y/n, like he was doing before, so she'd feel a little less afraid.
Loki didn't like seeing Y/n scared. He wanted her to know that he would protect her and that she was safe with him. 'How could I calm her down?', thought Loki. Then, an idea popped into his head. A little magic could fix this.
Loki said a spell to himself and raised his hand in the air. A green, shimmering ball of light formed in his palm and it started floating up and up until it reached the ceiling. Loki's bedroom was now being illuminated by a soft, green light. "My little friend, open your eyes", said Loki. Y/n was hesitant at first, but soon uncurled from her ball and sat up. "Look up towards the ceiling", he said. Y/n listened to Loki and looked up to find the green ball of magic floating in the air. "Now watch this", said Loki. He raised his hand again in the air and snapped his fingers together. The ball burst into a thousands tiny stars all over the ceiling. Y/n was absolutely astonished. She saw small planets and stars, comets zipping around, as well as asteroids. "M-Mr. Loki it's a mini galaxy!", said Y/n. She turned around to look at him and said, "This is incredible! Th-Thank you so much!" Loki chuckled and said, "You're welcome, small one. This little galaxy will be here for the rest of the night. It'll give the storm enough time to pass so that you can get some sleep without being scared." Y/n smiled and rested her head back down on Loki's chest. Loki pulled his blanket up more so he could share it with Y/n, who happily grabbed a hold of the blanket and pulled it closer to herself.
Y/n was about to doze off when suddenly a small pressure was on her back making circles. She looked back to see Loki's finger gently brushing up against her and smiled.
"Good night Mr. Loki. I love you, best friend", said Y/n all sleepily. Loki couldn't believe what he just heard. Nobody had said those three words to him since Frigga had past away. 'I love you..' It played in his mind until he said, "I love you as well, Y/n."

"Always."
