Julia's POV
I studied the hallways I was walking through and noticed the many doors opening up to other rooms, mainly bedrooms and offices or toilets. The sunlight was shining through all the windows and created small shadows in the hallway.
I looked at my reflection in the mirror at the end of the hallway and looked myself up and down. I was wearing the clothes from Aunt Liss and it definitely smelled a lot better than what I had been wearing before.
With every step I took I felt how sore my body was and I thought about if last night could've had any part in it.
I could hear voices from downstairs, and I could hear barking, that reminded me of Shaely and Kiwi. From what I could hear, they sounded happy and so did the people around them. I wondered who was downstairs besides my aunt while I grabbed onto the handrail and took slow steps down the staircase. As I went further away from Colby, who I expected was still in the bedroom I got closer to the ground floor I smelled the eggs and bacon from the kitchen and made my stomach rumble. I guess I didn't eat much yesterday and neither the day before that, so I had been used to not being hungry, but I also hadn't smelled or seen exceptionally good food that I necessarily wanted to eat.
"There she is! Good morning sweetie slept well?". I recognized her voice but couldn't see her anywhere. I only saw Shaely and Kiwi playing in front of a couple of guys dressed in all black and with a bulletproof vest. I didn't recognize either of them or neither did they when they noticed me on the staircase, but it sure looked like they were amused by the dogs.
"Oh please, don't just stand there, introduce yourselves to my niece, boys.". Aunt Liss quickly appeared in the kitchen after the fridge door had closed and I figured it was the reason why I couldn't see her before.
"Sorry, right... umm my name is... uhm.".
"Okay so, this is stutter boy also called Scott, and my name is Diego. I have to say that your aunt never mentioned that you would be this stunning.". He laughed out after patting Scott on the shoulder and looking me up and down. Ewe. But he was kinda cute though, but ew.
"Alright Diego, that's enough!". My aunt yelled from the kitchen and made him looked behind him before looking back at me and winked. He was only a bit taller than me and had a buzz cut with his dark hair that matched his dark eyes. He was wearing a tight black t-shirt making his muscles more prominent and especially his arms. He had a smirk on his face as I walked pass him and towards the kitchen while speaking.
"Well, what are you guys doing here?". I asked as I settled in the bar chairs in front of the kitchen table and turned my head to look first at Scott and Diego to my aunt.
Diego was about to answer when he was interrupted by my aunt.
"Security. They'll protect you, when you need it.". I smiled at the way she said it and the way Diego and Scott quickly shifted posture while still being amused by Shaely and Kiwi running around. I soon after grabbed Kiwi and placed her on my lap while turning my attention to my aunt again.
"Wait! Security, protect me? I'm sorry, aunt Liss but why would I ever need their protection again?".
She was pouring the eggs on three plates when she approaches me by the counter and answered.
"Well, I'm sorry, did you miss the part yesterday about how your wanted in this country and that the government wants you in their hands because you're immune to the virus that's gonna kill the rest of us?".
Ouch, okay yeah, I remember that.
"But I have been on my own for the last 3 weeks with Colby and I'm still alive, so do you really think that's necessary.". I said while pointing at Diego and Scott.
