Colby's POV:

Continuing 6 hours before:

"Oh, you don't understand yet. We would never hurt her and therefor ruin the product. You see, that's your job now.". His ugly face became closer to me and he was only a few feet away now. I could smell his minty breath with a mixture of sweat and gasoline, which wasn't the best but I could imagine I didn't smell great either by now. I kept the eye contact between us and kept my posture up , even though my body was tired and sore from before. "You are... well, you are in a very big part of an operation in which pretty over there is the most important part.". he pointed behind me, and soon Julias lifeless body came into my eyesight and I saw how she was carried on to the floor next to me. She didn't looked hurt and she was breathing but she looked pale and tired, which I couldn't blame her. "What did you do to her!?". I yelled and pierced my eyes straight at the buzz cut guy who looked back more calmly. "Just something to make her sleep better through this. Again, we're not gonna hurt her, but I didn't say anything about you or your friends.". "What are you talking about?". My head started to hurt by the amount of stress and confusing I was going through by now. "don't pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about. Or should I say who?". He was walking carefully around me with his eyes piercing through me and a firm hand on my shoulder. Everybody else had their eyes on me as well with their own small disgusting smirks. Some had blood all over them, some were clean, others looked fresh while others looked tired and almost high. This wasn't anything professional, and if you took the guns away from them they looked like a group of criminals greedy after something I suppose I was about to know about. I could already figure out they had my friends. They wanted me to do their dirty job and they would spear to kill my friends, or so they wanted me to think. By that though I believe every last hope pretty much had slipped out and now I just wanted confirmation. "oh, don't look like that, big boy. Just do as I say and nothing will happen to the friends of yours. But I supos..". "Proof it. Proof that you have them, and that they're still alive and.". I said calmly as I jerked my head to check on Julia one last time and then went back to buzzcut guy. "Sure.". He sounded tired of me and wafted his hand from another armed one in the crowd who had an I-pad in his hand. The screen was black until a few seconds later and a live video popped up with the image of what I thought. It was dark but I could clearly see Sam and Jakes faces in front and what I believed to be Corey and Devyn in the right corner while Kat, Tara and a blond girl I couldn't recognize were in the background sitting. They were all in what seemed like a dark basement and reminded me of the one Julia and the other women were locked up in except there wasn't any security. They looked more tired then me and almost hopeless, being locked up in that dark room with no food or water, but at least each other. I saw the truth laying right in front of me. The cold hard truth that my friends, that my best friend was hurt and locked up just waiting to know what's gonna happen. I knew Sam, and I knew he would try hard to come up with a good plan but right now, his life was depending on my actions. I wanted him to fight for his life, but I wouldn't want him to go through anymore than he already has. I could only imagine by the blood on him and his blue eye how they had been treating them down there. I could see the fear in them all and couldn't look for long. "You see? We have your friends and they'll be fine as long as you do as we say and you will see them before you know. But remember the important ingredient in this is her.". He pointed at her but I didn't care to look this time. My head was processing the thought of all of my friends left to die until I did something, and I knew that meant doing something against the will of Julia. The girl who already have saved me more than once. Buzzcut stepped forward and planted his big ass head a few inches from mine and asked again. "Do you understand?". I wasn't keeping up with the eye contact anymore, and therefor not giving him the satisfaction either. The room became quiet before he yelled the same question and grabbed my face with his hand. "Yes. I understand.". he let go his bloody hands and walked away while I kept my eyes low. I knew tears was gonna form if I didn't get it together soon. "What do I have to do?". I look up after a few quiet seconds and met the same pair of brown eyes as before, but funny how they were so far from Julias big brown and warm ones that could warm up my entire body in a few seconds of eye contact. His eyes were filled with terror and violence. "Good. Before I tell you your job you have to understand why we have to do all of this without Julia knowing. You see, Julia is special. And if you don't believe you'll soon find out if you haven't already. I want you to see her as a package for now, a special one. I want you to make sure she stays alive for a couple of weeks and then bring her to a place in San Francisco in a week.". "What do you mean special? And package? What are you gonna do to her when she is in San Francisco?!". I asked angrily while looking for someone to answer me. "She's immune Colby. If you haven't noticed a virus is pretty much taking over but the parasite making everybody sick isn't excactly taking over her. Her blood, her DNA and her brain Is very special. As I said, this is an operation you are a part of, and you should only be happy to save yourself, your friends and even your little girlfriend whos' blood can save millions.". "prove it!". I yelled. There was no way that Julia could be immune. I would know. She would know. "I can't prove unless I pulled out one of them, but that would wake her up, and I would have to force her asleep again. Look, if she was just a normal part of a human trafficking transaction or some shit like that, she would probably not have to be looked out by five of my men and I wouldn't need you. She's not a whore I wanna sell on the streets of San Francisco, she's different. Trust me.". He became closer every word and stood once again with his face closer than I personally wanted. "You have more than 20 men ready to fight for you, but you want me to do it? To keep her save and bring her to San Francisco?". He walked back with his hand onto his hips and nodding while he suddenly turned around and looked around. "Yeah. You see I trust you.". I furrowed my brows at his words and in a second I was looking into the dark metal muzzle of his gun. He moved it slowly as my breath started to become rapid. "If I trusted any of these men or perhaps had their family wrapped around my little finger like your friends, I wouldn't need you. Then I would be able to control them like I'm controlling you right now. I don't have THAT kind of power. But I do have this". He then pointed the gun at another armed and masked man next to me and pulled the trigger with no hesitation. The bullet went through the skull and ate through the delicate brain before hitting the floor and a body on top. I felt some blood hit my face and the sound of the lifeless body hitting the cold floor. I didn't care if I looked shocked right now. If I looked scared, because I knew I didn't want to end up like the guy laying beside me and I wasn't in control of the weapon who did this. And Julia. Oh Julia, what did you think about Colby. She's immune to the one virus killing everybody around you and you haven't noticed anything that could point to it. I should've never let her take my hand or let myself save her at that motel. I shouldn't have saved her because I now I will keep doing that, to make sure Sam stays alive. I would have to think of a way of getting her to San Francisco, then leave her, find Sam and get back to normal. I could say Violette was in San Francisco but I would have to plan good, convince her, make her trust me. I was disgusted by the way I was thinking of this, but nothing bad would happen to her when she was put in San Francisco, right? I shouldn't be mixing my feelings for her the guilt I have with the facts that her life in San Francisco equals Sam alive next to me. My stomach ached as I felt the ropes around my wrists and ankles loosen up which meant I was free now and I was correct. All the armed and masked people had left me and Julia alone in the dark interrogation room. Being alone to the girl I was about to lie to and kidnap to San Francisco was the last person I wanted to be alone with right now, but I didn't have a choice. I had to think nothing bad was gonna happen in San Francisco. She was science now, and she could save millions. I was just a piece in this plan, but my only mission was and would always be to see Sam again.
