Stucky bedtime trauma

Steve and Bucky sleep together. I mean you dirty minded - THEY SHARE THE SAME BEDROOM. The avengers are fine with it. They said it was down to all the time missed and nightmares but that wasn't the real reason. It was one yes but not THE one. Steve didn't catch Bucky's hand when he fell. Steve dreams about this. Every night of how things could have been if he had or Bucky haunting him when he didn't, taunting him, yelling at him. Or once when Steve dreamed his own suicide because Bucky  was always with him yelling in his head about how much of a failure he was and he couldn't take it anymore.

 When Steve had rushed into his room in the dead of night holding onto his flesh arm sobbing into it with an iron grip did Bucky find out. After that they shared a room. Every night Steve fell asleep holding Bucky's hand. That and only that stopped the nightmares and eased them both into sleep. This happened in secret every night until..  

Bucky had always thought super hearing was a curse, but not tonight, he had awoken to whimpers and a muffled scream, 5 floors down where the labs were, he knew it had to be the genius he was having an anxiety attack.. again. In the short time of knowing each other and both apologising for their actions Tony and Bucky had become close friends. Bucky had helped out Tony many a time out of his attacks, their had never been one at night. Bucky went to get up but felt the tug on his hand. Steve was holding his hand still. Bucky debated for 2 seconds before leaping out of bed to find Tony, Steve was asleep anyway.  

Steve was enjoying a peaceful sleep until he couldn't feel Bucky's hand anymore. Now Bucky was falling falling because he'd let go oh god he'd let go He had  him clutching each other tight as Bucky dangled below him smiling laughing in relief and then.. then.. OH NO "b-bucky Bucky BUCKY NO!" Steve shot out of bed screaming. Bucky wasn't next to him. Had this all been imagined. He'd let Bucky go, Bucky fell, Bucky gone he was gone, dead , he was all alone. "BUCKY!" he was up, Frantically Steve ran, searching the whole tower he jumped flights of stairs not caring at the noise he was making, not caring about the time. His bucky was gone, missing, no, gone. He was Not on the next floor down or the next OR THE NEXT where was his "BUCKY" 

5 floors down he saw him Bucky was on the sofa talking to Tony (who was calmed down now) and he shot into Bucky's arms like a child. 

By now everyone was awake terrified at the scream they rushed to see what was going on. And when they did well. No one had ever seen Steve's vulnerable side. All stood their shocked including Tony sitting next to Bucky eyes wide. However one Bucky glare and no-one dared comment. It didn't take long to realise Steve had fallen asleep on him. Bucky sifted a hard through his Steve's sweaty locks "The punks always had a soft insecure side" he addressed the group  "He was having nightmares about the train 'incident' you know when he failed to hold my hand, he never has truly recovered. He holds my hand at night to keep the nightmares away and both of us calm, he woke up without me" Tony gasped a little realising the condition of his friend was his fault Bucky seemed to know 2No-one blames you Tony it's ok" Tony breathed out deeply. The avengers gave him a look but he shrugged not wanting to explain. Luckily he didn't have too as Bucky with ease stood up cradling an unconscious Steve in his arms "C'mon punk" he said in hushed tones "lets get you back to bed" and lightly kissing his forehead he turned away "Goodnight everyone" and he left. The avengers too slowly filed out what a day. Yes day it was 3AM.

Post credit scene

4 hours later 

"Steve..."
"Mm?"
Sorry to wake you but I need the loo ok?"
Steve was wide awake now "no don't leave me!" Bucky takes some hair out of his eyes takes off his metal arm and gives it to Steve confused Bucky says "hold it for me until I get back,so you know I'm alive and ok, ok?" Steve nods and curls up with it. When Bucky returns 5 minuets later he's asleep and that's the first night he doesn't need Buckys arm.
