" Hell yeah!" Valt cheered, as he saw Wyvron burst into three pieces.

'' No! Battle me again, there has to be some kind of fluke!" Wakiya was enraged, even though you were all just practicing for the Nationals Team Battles.

Valt grinned.'' A win is a win! And you should be prepared to lose again!"

The banter between the two continued, and you smiled. It was fun being with friends and playing your favourite sport, BeyBlading. After you lost to Valt in the districts, you had joined the Beyclub and you didn't regeret your decision one bit. You all had grown closer to one another, and you and Shu had gotten particularly  close. Right now, there were no romantic relations between you two. It wasn't as if he liked you anyway.

Oh well, it doesn't matter, You thought, shaking yourself out of your reverie. I need to focus on winning at the Team Battles.

Ring! Ring!

Your thoughts were interrupted by your phone ringing loudly in your pocket. The beyclub turned over to look your side.

" Just a sec, guys," You said, smiling at the contact number.'' I gotta take this.''

While most of the club turned away, Shu found himself curious and couldn't help but overhear your conversation. You had smiled happily. Whom was the call from? Your family? friends? 

Maybe.. Shu felt a sinking feeling. Her boyfriend?

However, that wasn't the person.

'' Hey, Dad!' Your voice energetically chirped.

'' Morning, sweetie. You okay?"

" Yeah, great! What's up?"

'' Well, I was watching the news, and it was showing the Bladers that were in the team battles as well as in the individuals. Congrats on making it! And..."

''What happened, Dad?"

"Well, it's ... your mom and I won't be able to make it in time for your battle, sweetie."

" Oh. It's alright, don't worry!"

Liar, Shu thought. He had seen how your face had dropped.

'' Are you really fine with that, hon?"

" Yeah, don't worry! I know how busy you two can get. I gotta go practice now,bye!"

You hung up and returned to the stadium.

'' Who was that, (y/n)?" Rantaro asked.

'' Oh, just my Dad. Let's get on with practice now!"

Your hand absentmindedly clutched tighter on your jeans pocket, something which two members of the club took note of.

" Do you think she's alright?"Daigo asked Shu, concern in his eyes for his friend.

'' I don't think so. I'll go check up on her in a few.'' Daigo nodded, satisfied with the answer and went back to training.

Soon, school ended. You were starting towards your home when you felt a grip on your wrist.

'' Wha-''

" It's just me, (y/n)." Shu answered. You nodded and let him fall into step besides you.

"........Is something the matter with you?" Shu cut straight to the chase. You felt emotion swell up that he had actually noticed.

" Oh,no, nothing's the matter! I'm quite alright, I swe-''

'' Liar. Try again.''

You drew a long sigh, and slouched your posture a bit, walking slowly. '' It's nothing. It's just that my parents won't make it in time for the Nationals, that's all.''

Feeling curious, Shu asked, '' Your parents live abroad?"

You nodded." I know how busy they can get, but it just... hurts, you know? It feels like all the training was for nothing. I just don't..."

Seeing you were unable to continue, Shu started." My parents are the same.''

You looked up, surprised.

" They aren't home most of the time, so they wouldn't care wherever I went or what I won. They just don't care. So I stopped doing everything to please them, and set out my own target."

" I had no idea."

'' Likewise. My point is," Shu stopped walking and looked straight at you. '' Next time, don't just keep your feelings to yourself."

This time, you smiled out of pure happiness, and it wasn't fake. '' Will do. Thanks a lot, Shu.''

Shu smiled and gave you a nod. 

'' And also...''

'' Hmm?" You looked up again, waiting for him to continue.

'' I've been wanting to say this for a bit... I really like you, (y/n). A lot."

'' Pfft-"

Shu's heart dropped. How could you ever like him? That was why you were laughing, right?

" You know, Shu, you scared me a bit. I thought you were going to say something like '' we can't be friends anymore.''.

Shu smiled.'' Shut up, (Y/N). So you do...?"

'' Of course, Shu. I would be a fool to not love you.''

'' Hmm...then you wouldn't mind if I do this, right?"

'' Wha-''

You were cut off by a pair of lips meeting your own. Your eyes widened, but you soon relaxed and kissed Shu back. His lips felt soft and warm.

You two soon pulled away, your face still very red.

'' You look like a tomato, (y/n).''

'' Shut up, Shu.''

 Yep, you were truly glad that Shu came to sweep you off your feet.
