Chapter 14: Rise of the Pheonix

Time skip to the day they are leaving from the holiday

John's POV:

We said our goodbyes to everyone even though we would be seeing them at school the next day. Sera, Myu and I were back in the car Myu was playing with water making it float around and change shape. She had grown very close with her aura over the week and a bit that we spent on holiday.

They both fell asleep in the car again leaving me alone. Sera doesn't know how to drive because she usually gets driven wherever she wants by her own personal driver. Man I gotta do everything myself. I began thinking about my past again. High tiers abuse their power. They should be helping other but instead they beat people up without giving them a chance. Well that was actually my plan so I guess I'm no better. I used to be like that at my old school too. I almost lost control and went back to my old self.

I found a quote recently that has helped me however, it was by Octavia e butler I think and it was something along the lines of 'in order to rise from it's ashes, a phoenix must first burn'. I really liked this quote because it makes me feel like I've justified my past. I've been burned and as a result of that I caused many people harm but I was reborn from the ashes and became a difference person and I've been using my power to protect. I've save the school twice now and that alone made me happy. I did it all for Sera.

I will burn as many times as I have to, but I will never stop coming back. I will always be me. I tried to distract myself on all the other cars around me. That didn't work so I put the radio on really quietly and just listened to it. The music was calm and quiet like I said. Neither of them woke up during the car trip. I copied Sera's ability and put them in bed. It was late at night so  they probably wouldn't wake up until tomorrow morning. I began my daily meditation. I worked out in the morning and meditated in the evenings. I closed my eyes and thought about Myu and Sera. I loved them both so much.

I began having nightmares of when Sera had her ability removed and she almost got taken away, except this time she was kidnapped or at least she was in my dream. The same thing happened with Myu. I had a nightmare where I didn't interfere and she was dragged back to that slave house. I clenched my teeth. 'DAMNIT' I shouted in my dream. A real rolled down my face in real life. I promised Sera and Myu I'd keep them safe.

I heard a voice in my head. It was a girl. "M-mom? Your s-still alive... I t-hought I lost you mom!" I screamed. "I was so w-worried I'd never s-so you again" I began crying properly. My voice became weak and raspy and my breathing was irregular. "Mom! P-please come b-back... I want to a-side you again please!" I didn't want to give in or let her go. I missed her so fucking much. I heard her voice again, "I never left you John. Your mother will always love you... I'm so proud of you son. I know o never got to tell you this but I'm so incredibly happy for you. You've found yourself a nice group of friends and a beautiful girlfriend. You've got a kid who is just as adorable as you was. I promise I will always be by yourside" my mother's voice faded. I sat there and cried for hours. "I love you m-mum" I said before awakening from the meditation. I felt a sudden surge of power. It was incredible. I was stage three now?

I had just experienced traumatic mental issues but I dealt with it rationally. I guess that's how I unlocked my third stage. I'll have to check it properly but my Nightmare level seems to be around 50 ish. Maybe 60. It was hard to tell once it's so high. I was so worn out after all of that so I decided to go to bed. I layed down with the girls and drifted off to sleep.

Seraphina's POV:

I was having a Nightmare. John Myu and I had just got home and Myu and I went straight to bed. Wait no we didn't, I'm not still in the car am I? No John carried us in I think.
