Chapter Two: The Journey Begins
Madelyn sat next to Aragorn, watching as Boromir was taken down by the hobbits. Her amused smile turned into a look of confusion as Legolas gazed up at the sky. Madelyn followed his line of vision, staring at a black mass in the sky. Standing up to get a better view, she walked over to him.
"What's that?" she asked.
Gimli brushed off her concerns. "Nothing, it's just a whisp of a cloud," he said.
Bormoir glanced up. "It's moving fast," he stated.
"Crebain! From Dudland!" Legolas shouted.
"Hide!" Aragorn shouted.
Before Madelyn had a chance to move, she felt a rough hand grab her arm and tug her behind a rock. Looking up, she saw it had been Boromir. Only when they had passed did Madelyn dare to release the breath she had been holding.
"Thanks," she nodded to Boromir, slightly out of breath.
He nodded and she could have sworn she saw a ghost of a smile appear on his face.
"Spies of Saruman," Gandalf announced. "We must take the path of Caradhras."
Madelyn glanced up at the snowy mountains before cursing under her breath.

As they trudged through the snow, Madelyn needed to talk to someone about Boromir's resemblance to her father.
She hesitated before calling out. "Aragorn?" He turned to look at her and walked over. "Please tell me I am not crazy," she began. "When I look at Boromir, I can't help but notice that he looks so much like my father."
Aragorn sighed as they walked on. "That may be something you should discuss with him," he said, with hesitation. As much as he wanted to tell her, Aragorn knew it was not his story to tell.
Their conversation was interrupted by Legolas, who shouted, "There is a voice in the sky!"
Madelyn looked at Aragorn in alarm as Gandalf started chanting something she could not understand. Giant chunks of ice fell from the mountain, narrowly missing the Fellowship.
"He's trying to bring down the mountain! We must turn back!" Aragorn yelled over the harsh winds.
Suddenly, a loud noise was heard as more snow fell down on the group, completely covering them.
Madelyn instantly went into panic mode. She couldn't breath. She couldn't see anything. She was too short to heave herself out of the snow. Legolas must have realized this, as he looped an arm around her waist and pulled her up.
"Are you alright?" he asked, looking her up and down.
Madelyn nodded, a bit out of breath and unable to form words.
"We must get off the mountain!" Boromir shouted.
"Let us go through the Mines of Moria," Gimli suggested.
Gandalf looked reluctant. "Let the ringbearer decide," he stated, looking at Frodo.
"This will be the death of the hobbits!" yelled Boromir. "We cannot stay here."
Frodo looked around before deciding on an answer. "We will go through the mines."

The Fellowship walked on until suddenly Gandalf stopped and ran his hand along the stone. He mumbled something and patterns began to appear, forming the shape of a door.
