Life Goes On

Tea

Two days later Tenzin was making his way to the department on his glider, dreading seeing Lin. No matter how well Lin had played it off Tenzin knew she had seen his slip up of desire. He had foolishly let his desire get the best of him.

 They had been standing so close that Lin's intoxicating smell caught hold of him, but what pushed him over the edge to break momentarily, was Lin drawling out his name teasingly. His manly reserve had screamed internally a shattered momentarily. It took every fiber in his body not to give into Lin's hypnotic lips and crash his aching lips onto hers. When he had snapped out of it, he had hoped Lin hadn't noticed, but the hitch in her breath told him otherwise. 

For the past two days Tenzin had been miserable thinking of what he had done, and the desire still lingering torturing him.

Tenzin arrived at the department for a briefing before the three of them headed out to a small shop where their suspected Red Lotus member was working. Lin was determined to make Tenzin think she hadn't noticed him looking at her mouth with an overwhelming amount of desire. She greeted him with a forced amount of normality. The three of them headed out to the Jasmine Dragon tea shop in Little Ba Sing Se.

The block surrounding the shop was completely empty, no one was around at all. Lin had a very bad feeling about this, but she pushed on. Before they went inside Lin whispered to Feng, "Go around back in case this guy tries to run out." So, Lin and Tenzin headed in, sitting at different tables hoping to blend in, but the shop was empty besides the one worker they had come to watch.

He greeted them each by name as he took their orders with a forced and faked kindness. It made them both feel uneasy. They were well known around the city, Lin tried to reason to make herself feel better. The longer they sat there though, the more Lin started to have a bad feeling about their situation, something here was definitely wrong.

 She waited until the man went into the back to get their tea before she started to radio Feng for back-up, but before she could, all the shutters of the shop suddenly slammed down. Now they were in semi-darkness, Tenzin sprung immediately to her side. They stood back pressed up against back looking for the man in the darkness. Suddenly there were Red Lotus members surrounding them.

 Lin and Tenzin fought hard at the attacking members, flinging them left and right but they seemed to be multiplying. So Lin again tried to radio Feng, but this time she felt a sudden sharp pain on her neck as she had looked down for a split second for her radio. She felt dizzy and her vision went hazy, she flung a few more guys, but was struggling to stay upright.

 "Tenzinnnnn....", Lin moaned as she felt her legs go out and she fell into Tenzin.

The world went dark.

In a quick moment of panic about Lin, Tenzin blasted all the members around him against the wall and quickly grabbed her as she went limp against his back. He picked her up into his arms and air bended an air bubble so nothing could surprise him as he figured out what happened to Lin.

"Lin! Lin! Can you hear me!", Tenzin yelled, panicking at her lifeless body in his arms. He went to take her pulse when he found a small dart in the side of her neck. He quickly removed it and felt her pulse. Tenzin sighed in relief as he felt Lin's warm pulse bumping against his fingers. 

Tenzin pulled her closer as he tried to look out of the air bubble to see if anyone was outside of it. He saw that the Red Lotus members were still on the ground so he let the bubble die so that he could escape and get Lin medical help immediately.

 As soon as he did, he felt a sharp pain in his neck, and knew immediately that he had made a mistake. There had been one man hiding behind the counter that he hadn't seen before. He felt his body start to fall and did everything in his power to hold Lin's head tight so she wouldn't be hurt when they hit the ground. 

Then everything faded into darkness.
