Two days later early in the morning, Tenzin dragged himself up the stairs of Lin's apartment. He quietly slipped in the unfamiliar apartment and started to whisper brokenly, "Kids?" He stopped short at what he saw as he rounded the kitchen to the corner where the bed was. He stared in disbelief at Lin in an emerald tank top and shorts clinging to the one-year-old Rohan nestled against her chest. Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo surrounded her nestled close to her so they wouldn't fall off the bed. He smiled at the thought that this is probably how they'd been sleeping for the two weeks they had been here. He sat on the couch silently and just watched them sleep peacefully, he sombered as he remembered the news he brought with him. He decided to let them sleep, his news could wait.
Lin stirred in the warm bed filled with four other bodies, she carefully untangled Rohan's arms from around her neck and put him in Jinora's arms. Then she skillfully untangled herself and slipped out of the bed. She stretched long and hard, her muscles sore from work and carrying Rohan around when she got home. She went for another stretch and quietly yelped at the pain. Lin's body froze, she went cold as she realized there was someone else in the room. She could feel eyes on her watching. She whipped around, but was surprised to see Tenzin sitting there taking her in. He looked even worse than before, his eyes were red and puffy, and she didn't even know what he was wearing. She immediately knew.
Tenzin watched as Lin skillfully untangled herself from the mess of his children around her. She stepped silently on the floor and stretched long and hard. Her hair was down and all over the place, her tank top was slipping off her shoulder. He admired this woman as she stretched again, she had done so much for him and there was no way he could ever repay her. Suddenly she froze, Tenzin knew he was busted.

She turned around looking like she was about to kill whoever was in her apartment, but when she saw him her face softened with concern. She walked over to him and gently asked, "Pema?" He shook his head and broke down to the floor in grief. Lin knelt and held him tight, attempting to hold the crumbling Tenzin in her arms together. He couldn't even cry anymore; his tears were all dried out and used. Tenzin curled into her arms as she held him tighter. He could feel Lin's tear drops hitting his bald head and he squeezed her hoping it would dull the pain he felt.
