Later in the movie, a line came up. Probably the most remembered line of their relationship. "Till the end of the line." This line is used several times in the Captain America trilogy and symbolizes itself as affection for one another, similar to saying "I love you" in a romance movie. What makes it so important this time though is that Steve says it when Bucky was literally going to take his life ( he's brainwashed by HYDRA currently and killing Steve was his mission ). And those words seem to strike Bucky deeply because he doesn't kill him, and ends up saving Steve from the river before leaving to go back to HYDRA/go off the grid. It proves that Bucky remembered at least something and didn't have it in him to kill Steve.
