"He hasn't called in days." Leah said, staring at her phone as she walked through the forest with Breana.
It had been 3 months since everything had gone downhill and needless to say, everything had just continued to spiral downwards. Things at home were tense as the twins still weren't speaking to their father, or if they should even call Derek that anymore. Yes, it put their mother in a very difficult position but they had been lied to for their entire lives.
And to make matters even worse, Raphael had disappeared weeks after Leah had revealed what had happened. No letter, no phone call, nothing. He had just vanished into thin air and hadn't spoken to her during the 3 months of summer vacation.
"He'll call, Lee.." Breana replied with a soft frown, placing a hand on her best friend's shoulder in comfort.
The young witch shook her head. "Let's not ruin our night." She said as she slipped her phone into her back pocket before facing the angel. "We're seniors!" She said with a grin and the two made their way over to the bonfire.
Upon arrival, Leah saw movement coming straight towards them and leaned towards Breana's ear. "Incoming." She teased as her brother's figure came into view.
"Hey." TJ greeted his sister and handed her a drink before he leaned in to greet Breana with a kiss. "Hey, gorgeous." He whispered with a smile.
The angel giggled and wrapped an arm around her boyfriend as he handed her, her drink. "Hey." She greeted.
"We're finally seniors." He announced.
"It's probably the signal, right?" Leah asked which made both TJ and Breana turn to find her staring at her phone again.
"Are you still obsessing over Raphael?" The warlock asked which earned him a soft nudge into his ribcage from Breana
"She hasn't heard from him yet." The dark haired angel whispered.
"Nope." Leah said, ignoring her brother's question. "It's not the signal. I just got a message from Mom: 'Talk to Dad'. Not a chance."
The couple continued to watch the stubborn, young witch.
"I'm going to get a stronger drink." She announced.
It was around midnight when Leah had downed her ninth drink for the night. She slammed her cup down and closed her eyes as she let her head hang, letting a soft sigh escape from past her lips.
"Leah.."
Her eyes flew open at the voice. No, he wasn't going to do this to her now.
She straightened herself up and turned to face the owner of the voice, folding her arms across her chest with a heated glare. "Oh look, it's you. I thought you'd send your guarddogs again." She said in a voice laced with venom.
But he remained silent, carefully watching her every move.
Leah scoffed and walked past him and that's when he made a move, taking her by the hand and stopping her.
She ripped her hand away from his. "I didn't hear from you this entire summer."
"I can explain.." Raphael began weakly.
"Oh, really?" She asked with a pointed look. "You have a minute."
The werewolf glanced around before settling his gaze back on his mate. "Not here." He said softly.
"Well, this is my senior display." She said with a shrug as she got herself her tenth drink and quickly downed it.
"Fine.." Raphael sighed softly before he began his explanation. "I was informed that my father had a PA watching us from when we tried to trick him with the fake break up. So, to protect you, I went to Italy to try and negioate with him while, at the same time, finishing the plan to make my mother the leader of the werewolf council."
Leah stared up at him with no hint of emotion.
"That's why.." He said and shifted his gaze to the ground. "I'm not using it as an excuse to justify my actions. I know I should have called or at least--"
"It's whatever." Leah said, cutting him off with a smirk and a casual shrug of her shoulders.
"That's it?" The Alpha frowned.
"What do you want me to do?" She asked. "I needed you, Raphael, and you weren't there for me!"
He frowned seeing the unshed tears flood her eyes but she quickly wiped her eyes, letting out a humourless laugh. "It doesn't matter anymore." She said and moved past him once more.
But once again, he had stopped her. "You better let me go." She warned him.
"We are not done, Leah." He said softly. "What can I do to make things better? Please, I will do anything."
"Let go of me." She repeated coldly.
"Leah--"
"No." She said, cutting him off once more and shoved past him making her way over to Liam, who leaned himself against a tree.
"You know he's going to kill me, right?" He said as he took a sip of the contents in his red cup.
Leah shrugged casually with no emotion. "Even the scores." She said simply.
"He isn't a bad guy, Leah." The werewolf said. "He cares about you."
"I know. I just.." The witch sighed softly before she shook her head. "It's nothing. I shouldn't even be talking to you about my relationship." She said and left his side, leaving him to watch her with a small frown.
