Perfectly Imperfect

Chapter 21

*Claire*

After my classes were over, I went to the back of of college with some of my friends.
"Stop being a coward and jump in!" the biggest jerk in the whole of Maxwell yelled from inside the pool.
"I told you already, I can't swim!" I yelled at Edward.

The next thing I knew, someone picked me up and boom, inside the water. I had no idea who did it but I could hear yells in the background and screams.
I was drowning, maybe it is the perfect way to die after all.
The last thing I heard was a huge splash inside the water before I losed consciousness.

*Axel*

I was laughing with my friends at the side of the pool but all of a sudden, we heard a loud splash followed by screams and guys throwing insults at each. Someone was drowning but instead of saving a life, they were busy with something else.

I took off and jumped right into the water trying to find the person with my eyes open. About a few seconds I spot her unconscious body and in a swift moment, grabbed her waist pulling her up with me above the water.
"Claire.....OMG Claire!" Some lousy girl yelled as I brought her out of the water but after throwing a glance at her pale face, she looks familiar.

Right the girl at the market.

Laying her down, I pumped her chest but she wouldn't budge.
By now a huge crowd was gathered around us.
"She needs CPR," someone yelled. What do I do?
Shot we're talking about a person's life here.
I blew air onto her lungs through her mouth.

"Axel?" My girlfriend called behind  me and a few seconds later, she walked away.
I looked back at the girl coughing out water before running after my angry girlfriend.
"Danny!" Running after her, she stopped turning to face me once we were a little away from the crowd.

"If you're going to explain then save it Axel. What is it with that girl anyway?" She yelled at me like never before.
"Danny. I was just trying to save her!" I tried to make her understand but she stepped closer to me in rage.
"Wow. What are you now, a hero?" She laughed angrily.

"That didn't mean anything. I had to do it!" I tried to be calm and get her to calm too but it wasn't working.
"Why do you have to be the one to do it. Where you the only guy there or is it that you wanted to?" her arms folded on her chest.

"Are you serious right now?" My hands rested on my waist looking at her in question.
"The other time, you left me waiting and ran after that thief just to give her bag back at the market and today you saved her life by performing CPR. If it's not even more than that," she laughed.
"Danny," I was really disappointed. I didn't know she's this jealous and inconsiderate.

"Tell me, do you like her?"
I just watched her in disbelief.
"It's over Axel, adjusting her bag, she walked away.
I sighed and looked back where the crowd was but they were gone.

Danny hasn't been a big part of my life but losing her is kind of off. Great.

*Claire*

"You should really thank god for. Who knows what could have happened if that guy didn't save you?" My bestfriend, Silvana handed me my bag as we walked out of the lavatory.
"Who's that guy anyway?" I asked.
"Oh, don't you know?..... He's Axel Aranho," she said. I've never heard about him though I'm grateful that he saved my life but the thought of his lips on mine makes me nervous.
"Do you know his whereabouts?"
"Don't tell me you already like the guy," Silvana teased.
"I just want to thank him for saving my life today."

"Hey Carly do you know where Axel is?" She yelled at some guy.
Silvana is pretty much the socializing one. I know alot of people but she knows everyone in the college I swear.
"The last time I saw him, he was at the school garden," he said.
"Hey Claire," he added.
"Hey Carly, how 'u doing?"
"Cool."
