Maria Camilla's phone started ringing for the fifth time now but to no avail.
I wonder why she isn't picking up.
Today is her first day of service at the Military and what if something bad happened to her?

Then, I decided to call ma instead. She can tell me what's up with Camilla.

At the third ring, my mom Sara picked up the phone.
"Ma,"
"Son, is everything alright? " it's already late and I know where her worry is coming from.
"Everything is fine here. I've been trying to reach Camilla but I can't get through," I said.

"Oh she didn't tell you?...... Camilla was assigned to a new task. She wouldn't share anything more with us because it's confidential," Ma explained.

"Oh I see. I thought that maybe there was something wrong," I gave a sigh of relief upon hearing ma's explanation.
"No son, everything is fine... How 'bout you son, is everything alright," she asked. I miss my family so much and my best friend too.

"I'm fine ma, besides I'll be home soon," taking a sit on my bed, I rubbed my face in exhaustion.
"We'll be waiting for you."

"Alright Ma extend my greeting to pa. Tell him I'll call tomorrow as soon as I'm free. Good night."there was seriously no other place like home.

Right now I just want to be there. With Camilla.

"Good night son," after that, I hung up and threw my phone on the other side of the bed.

Wherever my Camilla is, I hope she stays safe. Always.

Upon reaching the border, we all went straight to duty.
"Lt. Del Rosario," her head snapped at me at my call.
"Yes sir."
"Come with me," I led the way after separating us into groups to secure the area.

There's no way I'm going to let those rebels come into our territories. The one time they did, my father lost his life as a soldier. I won't allow anyone to suffer the pain of losing a parent like that just like I did.

Night has already fallen and the place was deserted. There were no intruders around yet but it's more likely that they are planning something big.

I sent a hand signal for Del Rosario to move to the right side while I go left. Slowly and carefully, she scanned the area like an expert.
She's just...... I don't know

Whatever, duty comes first. She caught me staring but almost immediately I turned away to make sure that our territory was secure.

After an hour of patrolling, we've got information that there were no intruders and the area was well guarded. As the captain, I divided each one of us into groups. We'll take turns to secure the area till the time we're done with this.

Based on what I've observed, we should all get ready for the worst because this is just the beginning.
So far not even one of my predictions have been wrong and this time..... I hope so too.

My walkie talkie beeped for the 19th time since morning.
"General Del Lione here,"
"General,"
"How are things there Major?" He asked.
"The place is under surveillance. No intruders spotted yet," I made a clear report.
"Good. Be on stand. The batallion commander will soon arrive there," he informed.
"Yes sir," after it got disconnected, I dropped the walkie talkie on the table, leaning down on it.
