"Give me some minutes, I'll just come," quickly, Carlos got out of the car and started walking towards the exclusive twenty four deck black building. At the side, a glass board and a bright white light that showed the pink writings better in dark stood, "Grand Hill Hotel" written in bold.
The security guy greeted Carlos as if he'd known him all his life. They had a little chit-chat before he opened the door and went in.
The place screamed money and luxury but what was major doing here?
Was he meeting his girlfriend?
Then what I'm I?
Huh.
Don't think.
Don't think.I shoved that away from my thoughts and looked around. Everyone was just minding their own business, cars passing by, some parking.
Boring.
Until I saw the hotel security guard looking towards me like he was making sure he was seeing right. So not to be rude, I smiled and waved. He waved back at me and I fished my phone out of my pockets. It was dark and I needed to go home soon but Carlos.........
Stepping out of the car, I strolled around the place, letting the fresh air hit my face.It is nice and cool not until I heard someone cry "thief".
My head snapped to the direction of a lady running after some slim guy. Without deciding, I felt myself running after them in a great speed.
My shoes hit the road leaving a soft sound but my target was getting away and I couldn't let that happen.Soon, I over took the lady and stopped. Looking around the area, the guy just turned to the right junction.
There. There was a small path that will lead me to where he'll end up. Excellent.
Running, I came face to face to him with the red bag in his hands and stepping backwards."Give me the bag," people stopped to look at us at this point but the guy wanted to run away.
Scared, he threw the bag on the flow and I picked it up. He was just a teenager, when he tried to run, I held is hand, reached into my pocket and handed him enough cash right on his palm."Next time take only the money not the whole bag. There might me important documents there," nodding frantically, he took off.
As I turned, all eyes were on me but I just ignored them and walked back to the hotel.I helped that guy out because I use to do the same when I lived on the streets. If I had to option, I steal a bag, get the cash and throw the bag at the owner. I more than anyone else would know what people like him has to go through.
It's a tough life but I survived.
In front of the hotel, the worried sick woman stood wiping her face until she spotted me coming with the bag from across the street.
Strodding towards her, I handed her the bag. She opened it and sighed."Thank you. You're an angel from God" her lips broke into a satisfying smile before hugging me.
"You're welcome," I hugged her back then released.
"Just be more careful next time,""Maria!" Carlos yelled, nodding at the lady, I headed to him.
"Are you okay? The security guy said you ran after some thief," grabbing my arm and examining my covered body, I felt like a little kid which I dislike. It makes me seem weak.
"I'm fine. I'm not a kid, I can take care of myself," I yanked my arms away from his grip."So did you beat the hell out the guy or what?" He laughed. I was expecting him to get angry because of my action but he wasn't. Why?
"No, I took the bag and gave him cash instead. That's what he needed," shrugging, I said.
"I thought maybe you got hurt or something.""The last time I checked, I was stronger than you," smirking, I was going to punch him in the stomach but he held my fist tightly at first.
"Ahaaaa?" I raised a brow at him, a playful smile on my lips.
"You and I know that you played dirty."
Carlos chuckled and caressed my palm, sending my nerves to the power of ten.
He naughtily leaned in closer, tongue licking his bottom lip followed by a soft bite and his breath fanned my face then pulled back. Only then did I realize he was in a white shirt, black jacket and black pants but my nervous smile was there all the while.
