Maria had never felt so relieved and she shut her eyes at the good news.
"Can we see him?" Carlos's mom Cassandra asked approaching the doctor.
"He'll be transfered to a private room, there you can see him but it may take a while before he returns conscious," Doctor said we all smiled.

"Thank you doctor," shaking his hand, a huge sigh left my lips.
Thank God for saving Carlos's life.
I could have lost him today forever.
"Let's go," mom held my hand but soon stopped her.
"I have some place to go first and besides, I don't think he'll want to see me there after what happened," mom looked tired so she just nodded.

"You come later okay? She said going with Claire.
"I'll."

My feet led me to a place I've never been, a place I haven't appreciated and never believed in but after what happened tonight, I came here on my own will.
In the house of God.
Everything felt weird and new as I stood at the door, my hands in my pockets. Looking around, there were only a few people at this time.

"The lord has been waiting for you. Come in my child," I turned to see a priest dressed in white with a cross around his neck, a bible in hand and beads.
"Ahh.... I was just passing by. I'll leave now thank you."
How quickly I changed my mind about going in.
"No child. The lord has called you here today and you can't leave until you've spoken to him."

Looking back as he spoke, I nodded and stepped in.
I took a sit and the priest sat a little away from me on the bench.

Staring at the statue of Jesus on the cross, I started to speak.
"Can he hear me?" I asked.
"He's listening." The priest answered.

"I don't know who you are but I just came here to thank the lord for saving the person I love the most. This may be the first and last time but if you're indeed the lord who saved him today, I'm forever grateful." That's what I said and I hope "God" heard.

"Ahh priest thank you very much. I'll be leaving." I blinked away the tear that was almost slipping.
"There's a sermon this Sunday at ten am. You might want to come."
"I'll think about it," looking at him one last time, I walked out of the church for the first time.

In no time, I was back at the hospital.
Should I just leave instead of going to see Carlos?
I know he's out of danger but I'm sure he wouldn't want me there.

Anyway, I found myself preparing to go in there behind his room door.
I knocked on the door, turned the door knob and cool air hit my face.
His head turned to me for a moment before looking away.

Mom and Claire nodded at me while they excused us.

My heart ached again and I don't know how tears welled up in my eyes again and my eyes become blurry.
I sat on the chair next to his bed but he just looked away.
His head was bandaged, left hand in a sling and his leg but I couldn't see.

"I heard what happened to you." I said wiping my tears away.
"You didn't have to come," his voice was cold and it was killing me.
"Don't worry I'll be leaving. Get better soon," standing up, I watched him still looking away from me.

I began to question why I was here.

Turning back when I reached the door, I just left.

"Why are you out so soon?" Mom asked.
"I'll just come tomorrow. Good night mom, claire," once I gave them each a hug, I went on my way home.

I was devastated. I felt as if I've lost the only thing I've been holding on to for support.
Grabbing the hospital door, I tried not to fall.
My head hurts and my vision blurred.
"Mam are you alright?" A nurse walked by holding my arm.
"Yes I'm fine. Thanks."
