It had been close to dawn when Iyanna’s father, Ivan Sparrow, who is also the Pack’s messenger, managed to find our hiding place. He looked horrible, his blond hair was messy and he smelt of smoke, sweat and blood, his shirt was torn and he had multiple wounds all over his body.

I woke up at the sound of his voice announcing his arrival.

There was a commotion as all of us crowded around him, all eager for the news he brings.

“Dad!” It was Iyanna who managed to squeeze herself in the crowd until she was pressed against her father.

“My child! I’m glad you’re fine.” He hugged her and she hugged him back.

We left them for a few moments before getting back to business.

We sat around Ivan as he started narrating all that had happened to them after we left.

According to him, the Vegas were viciously attacked by the Hunters, fortunately, none of them had died though Mr. Vega was in a rather critical situation when he arrived at the hospital. Two members of the pack brought the Vegas to safety while the rest fought and hold off the Hunters, the Pack lost twenty of its members: Oviric Alseufier’s father, the Rouque couple and Alex’s aunt, uncle and cousin were just few of the casualties.

Fox had been badly wounded but his alive and recuperating, Aunt Eunice and her husband, Roderick were also hurt but they’ll live. Most of the Pack Elders were tired and injured, and they won’t be able to catch up to us for at least a while.

“Now, listen here, Young Echo Von Cliffe, Chieftain Tora ordered me to give you this message: Lead the Younger Ones to the village of Siltstone and look for the Lightning Pack, also known as the Wielders of Lightning. We would be there, waiting for you. We have to be there first since we need to talk to the Lightning’s Chieftain, but you need to be there as soon as you can. Maybe the other Elders might be able to catch up with you soon but rest assured that we would be waiting for you at Siltstone Village, whatever may happen.”

“But why couldn’t we just go with you?” I asked him politely.

“Because we are not sure if the Lightnings will honor our offer of alliance and Chieftain Tora should meet the chieftain of the Lightning Pack to convince him and besides, there will only be three of us: Chieftain Tora, Ylva Fang and I. The others are still recuperating but don’t worry, they’ll be fine. The Hunters wouldn’t bother them for a while for they’ve also suffered great casualties. There’s plenty of time for you and Fox’s group to catch up with us or even with each other.”

“I understand. The Young Ones will arrive safely at Siltstone, I’ll make sure of that.”

I offered my hand and Ivan Sparrow shook it.

“Well, I need to be off now.” He said as he kissed Iyanna goodbye.

“Wait, did you raid the Hunters hideout?” I inquired, trying to be as casual as possible.
